Objective:&nbsp;The Quarry Maintenance Lead is primarily responsible for the maintenance Planning and Inspections on the Quarry&nbsp;Fixed Plant crushing system. This position has direct reports of 2 mechanics and 1 millwright. Reports directly to the&nbsp;Preventative Maintenance Head and indirectly to the Quarry department. There will be additional support from the&nbsp;Plant Maintenance Coordinator, Plant Maintenance Supervisor and Plant pool millwrights in order to get shut down&nbsp;work completed.&nbsp;In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets at the&nbsp;Exshaw Cement plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the&nbsp;equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines. As part of the management team, this position also has a contribution regarding the establishment of plant policies and&nbsp;procedures concerning fixed plant maintenance and general operations. This role has a responsibility to&nbsp;develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations between the quarry&nbsp;maintenance employees and other departments.&nbsp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>Health, Safety and Environment:<ul><li>Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to&nbsp;safety policies in all work environments/areas and with employees, contractors and site visitors.</li><li>Identify and&nbsp;plan accordingly for the safety aspects required to ensure safe execution of work e.g. special PPE, lock out,&nbsp;lifting plans, ergonomics, etc.</li><li>Attend safety meetings when available, and promote the safety culture.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Environmental team for compliance with laws and policies.</li></ul></li><li>Maintenance Management:<ul><li>Provides direct oversight in the scheduling and maintenance of fixed&nbsp;plant equipment at the site.</li><li>Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure maintenance&nbsp;activities are optimized and costs are best in class.</li><li>Effectively utilizes Lafarge’s maintenance programs to&nbsp;ensure the proper scheduling of activities.</li><li>Inspect the equipment and Plan all work orders by assigning the&nbsp;required parts, tools, procedures, drawings, and resources to the work.</li><li>Plan the weekly, monthly, yearly and&nbsp;long-term maintenance plans.</li><li>Examine and prioritize maintenance activities with team members.</li><li>Monitors equipment condition by performing both a formal schedule of systematic inspections (PM) of plant&nbsp;equipment, and non-systematic inspections as required by equipment stoppages, daily incidents and pending&nbsp;turnarounds.</li><li>Following repairs and new installations, the Maintenance Inspector performs follow-up inspections, verifies&nbsp;tolerances in critical issues to assure compliance to accepted standards.</li><li>Inspect repairs and/or rebuilds being made off-site, and shares responsibility for the quality of&nbsp;specialized items received by Stores.&nbsp;</li><li>Is the recognized technical expert in his area of the plant and provides advice and support.</li><li>Makes technical&nbsp;decisions regarding plant equipment for the Planner, and coaches&nbsp;other maintenance practitioners involved in&nbsp;Inspection or Execution functions.</li></ul></li><li>Weekly and daily plan:<ul><li>Schedule the weekly maintenance plan in coordination with production areas and&nbsp;balance the daily workload ensuring full utilization of available in-house resources.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Major outages:<ul><li>Plan maintenance activities for the major/annual outages well in advance by identifying and&nbsp;tracking the status of long lead spares and services.</li><li>Follows the preparation and consolidation of the shutdown&nbsp;planning (personal, third party’s services, materials, spare parts, equipment, tools, time, critical path) with&nbsp;coordination meetings following the established guidelines and tools.</li></ul></li><li>Inventory<ul><li>Generate and follow up purchase requests for materials, spare and wear parts, ensuring just in time&nbsp;delivery.</li><li>Work closely with stores and purchasing personnel to ensure that inventory levels are maintained to a&nbsp;minimum without compromising plant reliability or the effective completion of mechanical tasks.</li></ul></li><li>Quality:<ul><li>Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets and&nbsp;limits).</li></ul></li><li>Equipment catalogue:<ul><li>Ensure the equipment parts catalog (both in SAP and equipment folders) reflects all plant&nbsp;equipment changes and obtain proper resource for future upgrades so that the catalog continues to be a reliable&nbsp;reference tool for the whole plant</li></ul></li><li>Maintenance Performance:<ul><li>Track all statistics related to the Maintenance Department Activities (KPI) i.e: repeat&nbsp;work, PM compliance, machinery failure, etc.</li><li>Ensure productivity, housekeeping and quality of work standards&nbsp;are maintained within the mechanical maintenance department through sound planning and practices.</li></ul></li><li>Maintenance Cost:<ul><li>Plans for cost effective maintenance activities aiming for optimization of resources e.g.&nbsp;people, contractors, spares and equipment downtime. Estimates, tracks and controls the cost of maintenance&nbsp;work orders.</li><li>Adjust maintenance planning accordingly to remain within budgetary constraints.</li></ul></li><li>Environment:<ul><li>Be familiar with and support the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System including&nbsp;being aware of any specific duties outlined in the program.</li><li>Ensure that any changes to the plant's equipment or&nbsp;design are reviewed with the Environmental Manager and other departments to ensure that any relevant&nbsp;regulatory requirements are identified and met.</li></ul></li><li>Communication:<ul><li>Acts as the main point of contact between the maintenance team and operations group to&nbsp;ensure optimum maintenance, reliability and availability of the equipment.</li></ul></li><li>Operational Meeting:<ul><li>Represent the Quarry maintenance team in the operational meetings, determine&nbsp;maintenance priorities, plan shutdown period and optimize maintenance during those times.</li></ul></li><li>Continual Improvement:<ul><li>Continually review and evaluate methods, processes, tools, equipment to optimize the&nbsp;maintenance function.</li><li>Follows the performance of the established maintenance performance indicators and&nbsp;implements corrective measures for continuous improvement&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Subcontractors:<ul><li>Plan and coordinate work carried out by third parties.</li></ul></li><li>Safety leadership:<ul><li>Displays safety leadership by ensuring safe practices by co-workers, employees and&nbsp;contractors in all areas of his responsibility and managing accountability</li><li>Compliance of all safety policies, procedures&nbsp;and applicable laws.Report on accidents/incidents assuring follow-up as per the Exshaw procedures.&nbsp;</li></ul></li></ul>Relationships with Others Jobs:&nbsp;<ul><li>Reports to the Preventive Maintenance Head</li><li>Works closely with other plant supervisors and plant coordinators, specifically the Maintenance Department.</li><li>Works closely with other local support services as required.</li></ul>Qualification Profile:Education &amp; Work Experience:<ul><li>Minimum of 5 years of&nbsp;relevant experience in crushing operations&nbsp;</li><li>Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair; experience in inspection and welding an asset.</li><li>Proven experience in mechanical inspections&nbsp;</li><li>Proven experience in planning major work and plant shutdowns using computer software&nbsp;</li><li>Experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance System (SAP)</li></ul>Preferred skills:<ul><li>Knowledge of problem solving techniques (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)</li><li>Strong computer skills.</li><li>Strong communicator (both oral &amp; written).</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel.</li><li>Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.</li><li>Proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.)</li><li>Well organized and systematic.</li><li>Ability to multi-task</li><li>Flexibility with working hours and ability to manage stress, to provide assistance and to encourage the&nbsp;maintenance team in critical situations</li></ul> As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, will be required.YOUR LAFARGE EXPERIENCE At Lafarge, there is endless opportunity for you to play your part.
