Overview:

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing material quality for Greater Vancouver area.  This role is directly responsible for ensuring our customer’s receive the appropriately performing quality products, by leveraging our production excellence and sales-force effectiveness while ensuring reserve optimization.  The Quality Manager plays a key role in directing what materials are designated for production and shipping. 

Responsibilities:

Health and Safety:
•    Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and supporting safety policies in all work environment areas.
•    Promote a positive safety culture through “Boots on the ground”
•    Ensure safe and healthy working conditions in areas under his/her responsibility

People Management:
•     Provide Technical support to the Operations & Commercial Manager in order to successfully bid jobs
•    Oversee the Quality Department and its orderly function
•    Provide on-going Training of appropriate personnel 
•    Leverage development opportunities to grow personnel
•    Evaluate personnel for performance 
•    Assist in recruiting of personnel where required

Quality Assurance:  
•    Administer, develop, implement, and standardize quality plans and processes for the Greater Vancouver Area. This shall be achieved by working closely with the plant managers, conducting quality audits and adhering to the WCan Quality Control Manual 
•    Lead and develop the Quality Assurance team for region
•    Assess aggregate designs for annual product submissions
•    Represent the interests of the company in technical associations/meetings with stakeholders such as engineers, customers, etc.
•    Work with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies and customers to open lines of communication between these groups and Lafarge and to promote Lafarge's products and services.
•    Maintain a close working relationship with the Ready-Mix Division with respect to the quality of aggregate materials 
•    Work with the aggregate QA and sales departments to pre-qualify our construction materials; clarify and modify, where possible, specifications and assist customers with their bids on special projects.
•    Troubleshoot aggregate quality complaints where required, perform analysis to ensure issues are mitigated or eliminated

Customer Focus:  
•    Ensures that key materials performance data is reviewed and analyzed monthly (i.e. Consistency, Conformance, Capability and customer quality complaints).  
•    Tracks progress against actions and targets/KPIs.  Investigates variances and ensures corrective actions are established.
•    Respond promptly and appropriately to customer requests.
•    Communicate test results to Customers on a timely basis.
•    Regular interaction with internal/external by email, phone or visits.
 

Specific Accountabilities

•    Shipped material meets Quality Specifications. 
•    Aggregate Inventory is kept at optimum levels. 
•    Analysis of drill data
•    Assist with Inventory management 
•    Plant setup/efficiency 
•    Monthly Aggregate Inventory & pile layout 
•    Barge and truck aggregate testing
•    Annual product certifications

What we offer:

This is an hourly position: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually 

Vehicle: This position will come with either a company-provided vehicle or vehicle allowance (To be determined)


Qualifications:
 

Education:
•     A Diploma in Technical or Engineering is preferred.
•    10 years’ practical experience-- Aggregates & applicable testing.
 

Experience and Skill Set:

•    Minimum 10 years of Management/Supervisory experience.
•    Experience in reading and interpreting aggregate specifications
•    Experience and knowledge of Crushing and Screening Plants 
•    Excellent problem solving & analytical skills.
•    Strong communication and computer skills
•    Good knowledge of Aggregate industry.
•    Must be able to work well as a part of a team and independently
•    Must have a good safety mind set
•    Lab & Field work required.
