Overview:
As an Apprentice Welder, you will assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment such as cone crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, washing equipment, and cyclones. This is a fast-paced production environment, so having a mechanical aptitude is essential. You'll be guided by experienced welders while gaining hands-on experience in fabricating and welding.
Responsibilities:
As an Apprentice Welder, you will:
- Assist in performing welding repairs and maintenance on production-related equipment and structures.
- Learn to utilize various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components according to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to understand project requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Help prepare workpieces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal using various tools and equipment.
- Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components before welding.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere to safety protocols to ensure all tasks are completed safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Interest in welding and a desire to learn in an industrial environment.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Apprentice welder certification
Skill Set:
- Basic understanding of fabrication and design concepts.
- Familiarity with air arc equipment and gas cutting is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered blueprints.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- CWB or other welding certifications are a plus.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
- Physically fit to perform required duties
- Availability for overtime and weekends when necessary.
