Overview:

The Lafarge Southern Alberta and greater Calgary area is seeking a motivated individual with experience to employ as a Concrete Batch Plant Operator.  The successful individual will be responsible for most importantly safety of themselves the safety of others, while adhering to all policies/procedures and executing the position with efficiency and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

Safety and work place environment:

  • Safely, efficiently and effectively execute the role of operating a concrete batch plant using the required training, experience, knowledge, resources and leadership traits. 
  • Working with site docs and other plant staff to safely operate a ready-mix plant while adhering to all Lafarge policies and procedure.
  • Concrete batch plant setting.
  • This position will also require the individual to be involved in other daily plant operations when required.

Plant improvement projects, repairs, maintenance/service and troubleshooting:

  • Report to management or plant lead hands, work with maintenance and other plant staff to maintain an acceptable level of plant reliability.
  • Mechanical and technical troubleshooting and diagnoses

Relationships with Others:

  • Report to management, work with management and plant lead hands to complete projects, repairs maintenance/service and troubleshoot plant functions and/or operational problems.
  • Work with and/or lead subcontractors, ensuring subcontractors they are working safely and efficiently alongside management.
  • Work closely to with plant staff as a team.

Dimensions:

  • Report to GCA plant management and the operations support manager.
  • 15 co-workers, subcontractors and maintenance workers.
  • 250,000 + m3 of ready-mix production per year from 5 plants.
  • Wages Negotiable upon interview.
  • 2nd shift,  Work schedule are not limited to common hours, the individual will be required to fill any daily vacancies in terms of plant operations.
  • All training is provided.
  • Union setting

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Active Class 5 driver’s license a minimum, drivers abstract is required upon employment offer.  

Experience & Skill Set:

  • Minimum 2 years Construction materials plant operator experience or greater.
  • Must be competent with computers and electronic pc based systems.
  • Individual must be safety orientated, motivated, efficient and able to work independently. 
  • Equipment operator experience an asset.
  • Current active safety tickets are an asset but not required.
  • Must be flexible on availability and wiliness to perform all required tasks.
