Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Class 3 Driver for SECURE’s Metal Recycling division is primarily responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of metal materials between collection sites, recycling facilities, and client locations. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth flow of operations within the recycling division and ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction. This position is located in Kimberley, British Columbia.

By combining safe driving practices with excellent customer service and operational efficiency, the Class 3 Driver helps ensure that recyclable materials are transported reliably and sustainably.

The Team

The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services. With a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction, our team operates across strategically located facilities in Western Canada, offering a full range of services from recycling and clean-up to demolition and surplus scrap metal marketing.

Work Environment

This position is located in Kimberley, British Columbia.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to all local, provincial, and federal traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices at all times
  • Skillfully handle and maneuver different types of vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe operation during loading, transit, and unloading activities
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by SECURE Energy and customer sites to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents
  • Accurately position and secure waste bins in designated areas, ensuring they are recorded and tracked correctly using the provided tracking system
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all transported materials to verify they match the accompanying documentation and comply with safety and regulatory standards
  • Be prepared to maintain a regular weekday schedule while also being available for additional hours as needed to meet operational demands
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with the dispatch team to optimize routes, meet customer requirements, and enhance overall operational efficiency
  • Support various operational tasks at the recycling facility as required, including helping with equipment maintenance, organizing materials, and ensuring the overall smooth running of facility processes

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience in the transportation industry or demonstrated competency.
  • Solid knowledge base with respect to Hours of Service, Load Securement, and Driving Regulations.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian geography, highway systems, and rules.
  • Valid Class 3 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Class 1 license would be considered an asset.
  • Experience operating various types of transportation equipment, such as flatbeds, tankers, and heavy-duty trucks.
  • Lowbed experience would be considered a strong asset.
  • Self-loader experience would be considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, dispatchers, and team members.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
  • Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading tasks and to perform vehicle inspections.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and following all company protocols.
  • Basic computer skills for completing electronic logs and documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to changing road conditions and weather situations while maintaining safety.
  • Knowledge of waste management and recycling industry practices is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges during transport.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor, with a focus on customer service and client satisfaction.
