Black Diamond Group’s Marketing & Communications department has a full-time position for a Communications Specialist, External.

This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

Black Diamond Group is hiring a Communications Specialist, External, reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications within the Corporate Communications Team.

This role is essential in strengthening Black Diamond Group’s external brand presence by promoting our brand, managing our digital platforms, and supporting leadership communications. It also works closely with internal stakeholders to enhance our employer brand and ensure our story is communicated clearly and consistently across all external channels.

Responsibilities

1. Digital & Content Management

  • Develop and execute content and social media strategies that are brand aligned.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop external marketing and communications plans and tactics to support employer brand, Indigenous Relations, Events, HSE, M&A, etc.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial calendar for social media platforms (LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Proactively create, publish, and track social media content using the content management platform, providing insights and recommendations to improve.
  • Maintain and update the Company’s website editorial calendar, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure content is current (HSE, IR, etc.).
  • Become an in-house expert on the CMS website platform to create and publish web content, track analytics, and optimize user engagement.
  • Manage our website content including landing pages, blogs - and maximize search results and user experience.
  • Collaborate with commercial marcomm leaders to cross-promote and ensure brand alignment.

2. External Communications & Media Relations

  • Develop and execute effective external communications strategies.
  • Support overall content development for our Annual Stakeholder Report.
  • Support Investor Relations by publishing quarterly results and key content externally on our website and social media channels.
  • Track media and brand mentions online, providing monthly reports and insights to inform content strategies and mitigate reputational risk.
  • Manage media relations as needed, including inbound media inquiries, outbound media pitches, and media briefings.
  • Develop and execute issues management and crisis communications plans.

3. Internal Communications, Events & Community Engagement

  • Provide interim support as needed for internal communications, including drafting and posting content to the intranet, bi-weekly newsletters, and executive memos.
  • Support with Black Diamond Group’s community investment initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborate with the Events Manager to develop external communication[EM1] plans and materials for events and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support event administration and coordination, such as on-site execution and photos, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a communications role, ideally with a B2B focused public-company and/or graduate of post-secondary communications program
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Kentico CMS, Hootsuite, Contact Monkey, Adobe or other (Canva), Brand Mentions and/or ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Familiar with CP-style, ethical use of AI, and issues management and crisis communications
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, growth-focused company
  • Aligned to Company vision, mission and values
