Overview:

Reporting to the Aggregates Production Lead Hand, the Crusher Operator is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating with crushing crews, truckers, QC, and sub-contractors. As well, the Crusher Operator is responsible for ensuring high quality material is produced to required specifications, completed safely, on time, on budget and in compliance with mining and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong familiarity with crushers, screeners, conveyors, loaders and other associated Aggregate and or mobile heavy equipment.
  • Maintenance of the equipment being operated
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather, possible night shift and out of town work, overtime and weekends if required. Job involves shift work and weekend work throughout the year
  • Controlling conveyors, panel boards, pumps, gauges, and dials to ensure maximum efficiency and consistency of materials are being generated.
  • Create and foster a positive work culture, and set clear expectations of crews for safety and production
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and lead by example
  • Schedule running and major repair work on Crusher, screeners, loaders, and all other pit related equipment
  • Endeavor to maximize equipment and tool purpose as well as confirm equipment and tools are in compliant working condition
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflict and interpersonal issues of the crew
  • Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image
  • Must be able to communicate well with co-workers
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experienced in a variety of equipment operation for crushing, and mining
  • Maintain a clean and efficient crushing operation and work environment
  • Willing to learn and take direction
  • Ensure mining and environmental standards are met and adhered to from both the applicable governing bodies and Lafarge requirements
  • Responsible for accurate and timely entry of labour, equipment, and production information
  • Follow and adhere to all the Company’s safety procedures and directives
  • Engage with all levels of employees, ensuring personnel are actively seeking solutions to identified risks

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a preference given to those holding a class 3 with air, or higher
  • Computer experience is preferred but not essential
  • Experience working in a gravel crushing operation and on heavy equipment (loader, excavator) would be an asset.  Minimum of 5 years crushing experience preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • High School Graduate preferred, but not mandatory
