The Opportunity:
The Electronic Technician will report directly to the Lead - Controls & Instrumentation. The primary function of this position is to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Sanjel Energy equipment and to provide support to field operations.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain and exceed Sanjel Energy's high standards concerning safety, quality, efficiency and communication
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the district facilities and on location when required
- Be on call (rotational) for unscheduled shop and field repairs
- Support field operations on worksite for projects
- Troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment using schematics
- Configure various data acquisition/PLC based systems and instrumentation (pressure, flow, density, and temperature)
- Perform calculations to determine calibration factors for various sensors
- Install and commission electrical/electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic controls and systems on Sanjel equipment
- Perform equipment updates and refurbishment
- Assist Engineering with the testing and release of new equipment and systems
- Mentor and train new personnel (Technical and Operational)
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or technical diploma in Electronic/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering
- General understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and electrical systems and components
- Wiring, soldering and fabrication skills
- Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong computer and networking skills
- Self-motivated; ability to work with little or no supervision
- Organizational and time management skills
- Applied job knowledge, problem solving skills and decision making abilities
- Previous experience with oilfield instrumentation and equipment is considered an asset
