In a short period of time, AU has created a series of essential, efficient and innovative downhole solutions to provide its customers with confidence in their operations. The products that AU creates assist its customers in enhancing their energy production while reducing the environmental impact. Advanced Upstream is looking to add a Field Service Technician to their team.

Job Summary:

The Field Service Technician’s primary responsibilities will be the installation of Advanced Upstream (AU) bottom hole assemblies and completion equipment at customer job sites in any area that AU performs work. The Field Service Technician will account for, caliper, and measure all equipment against job packets, well data and tallies, while organizing paperwork and helping customers with equipment placement and tracking. Additionally, the technician will be required to perform hydraulic calculations including displacements, capacities, buoyancies, and pressures, and record the results on schematics and reports.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Install Advanced Upstream completion tools equipment according to operating procedures or within the scope of project application
  • Verify and inspect that completion equipment and supplies shipped to the well site are in proper working condition
  • Perform downhole hydraulic calculations
  • Report status of on-going activities daily to the reporting manager
  • Prepare, complete, and submit accurate and thorough end of well reports on a timely basis to the reporting manager
  • Prepare JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for wellsite operations and report all non-conformance in a timely manner
  • Attend pre-job meetings, toolbox talks with relevant on-location personnel
  • Convey information and job details to co-workers at the end of each shift to ensure an efficient shift change over
  • Adherence to all AU policies and procedures (vehicle, safety, correspondence, housekeeping)
  • Participate and uphold all HSE policies and procedures of AU and as well as any specific customer requirements
  • Assist in the implementation of corrective/preventive actions
  • Report all non-conformance actions and situations in a timely manner
  • Required to be available on a 24-hour call basis as needed
  • Provide workshop assistance when not at field locations
  • Frequent travel is required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months to one year oilfield experience preferred

Technical Requirements:

  • H2S, Standard First Aid, WHIMIS
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a good record (abstract to be provided)

  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations as it applies to customer requirements
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively to solve unique problems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites
  • Work with other team members and organizational groups and exhibit effective communication
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent judgement, high level of commitment & strong work ethic
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, manage priorities and execute tasks efficiently
  • Ability to handle stressful and high pace situations
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities in all weather conditions
  • Perform physical labor when necessary, in addition to standing or travelling for long periods of time
  • Ability to move or lift 25lbs – 50lbs
