Overview

Lafarge Construction Edmonton is currently looking for a flag person to join our team for the 2024 Road Construction Season. Scope of work will be in our asphalt division. The large majority of work will be done in the Edmonton area, possibility out of town work for a short length of time. Often, work hours will be long and will include some night shifts and weekends. Successful candidates should be hardworking, self- motivated and enthusiastic team players, willing and ready to work with all personalities.

Responsibilities

  • Traffic and pedestrian control on roadways
  • Collect and sort material tickets
  • Follow all safe work practices
  • Set-up and tear-down of barricades and signs
  • Assist in daily safety meetings
  • Be self-motivated and dependable

Specific Accountabilities

  • Experience working with construction crews with measurable production goals.
  • Flexible availability to include overtime, possible weekends and nights.
  • Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.

Qualifications and qualities

  • Class-5 license and own means of transportation is required.
  • Previous flagging experience/certifications are an asset. 
  • Able to work long hours and weekends.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
