ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Geologist (GIT)/Mining EIT to join our growing team. The role offers the opportunity to work across diverse sites, contribute to the growth of our reserves and mining department and play a key role in supporting Lafarge’s operations in Western Canada, with over 140 sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, a proactive mindset and a passion for excellence.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Reserve & Resource Management - conduct geological investigations and assist with volumetric analyses and reserve estimations to support operations, planning & reporting.
  • Mine Planning & Development - collaborate on short and long term mine plans to optimize resource extraction utilising appropriate mine plan or block modelling software.
  • Support permitting processes to ensure compliance across our sites.
  • Perform field work, including drilling, sampling and mapping of deposits.
  • Manage & analyse geological data to identify opportunities for new reserves.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, environment and land departments.
  • Actively participate in safety audits, inspections and training initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to team growth by sharing ideas, best practices and innovative solutions
  • Continual professional development, stay updated on industry trends, regulations and best practices while working towards obtaining professional status as a P.Eng or P.Geo.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years industry experience, preferably in aggregates, construction materials or mining.
Required Training/Certifications: Must be registered as a EIT or Geologist-in-training working towards Professional Designation.
Required Technical Skills: Geological software's (e.g. AutoCAD, GIS, LSS, Leapfrog, Softtree).
Travel Requirements: 30-40%

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
