Job Description

As a GIS/CAD Lead at FLINT, you will be responsible for ensuring that technology is used properly and efficiently, meeting current and future needs of FLINT and the Environmental Services (ES) team. This position will support the growth and development of the FLINT GIS/CAD department and have extensive working knowledge of the GIS/CAD department, software and capabilities along with industry experience. This role can be based in FLINT’s Western Canadian offices or remotely.

What would you be doing?

  • Assist leadership in identifying GIS/CAD program improvements and efficiencies, while mentoring and guiding GIS/CAD staff. Ensure quality assurance and provide training on GIS/CAD processes.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of GIS/CAD maps and layers, ensuring data integrity through spatial analysis, field data entry, and the integration of systems and data to a unified source.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create 2D and 3D models, manipulate historical aerial photos, and develop groundwater modeling, cross-sections, drill plans, and risk maps.
  • Develop environmental site assessment figures, pipeline diagrams, and other technical reports. Create and update documentation for GIS/CAD processes, ensuring adherence to quality assurance protocols.
  • Work closely with other departments (Project Managers, Coordinators, and field teams) to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of GIS/CAD outputs, while supporting project prioritization and service management.
  • Stay current with advancements in GIS/CAD technology, while managing administrative tasks such as claims, invoices, and other paperwork, ensuring adherence to deadlines and project goals.

  • $38.95 - $48.95/hr, your compensation will be based on your cumulative skills, education and work experience.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of drafting experience, including leadership or senior specialist roles, with a strong background in environmental consulting, particularly in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. FME Certified Professional, ARCGIS Pro certification, or GISP is an asset.
  • Technical degree/diploma or equivalent in Environmental Science, Computer Science, Geography, Geoscience, or Engineering, along with expertise in Autodesk and Bentley products (AutoCAD, GINT, Surfer).
  • Knowledgeable in environmental regulations relating to contaminated sites and waste management, with hands-on experience in the field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Nitro PDF, Adobe Acrobat, and PDF Exchange Editor, with a strong ability to produce, read, and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage work in a multi-project, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in team-oriented environments.
