BOXX Modular (Canada), a business of Black Diamond Group, rents, leases and sells temporary and permanent modular buildings, including standard buildings ready for immediate delivery and custom-designed solutions. We work with our customers to design and deliver customized solutions, and provide additional services such as delivery and installation, furniture rentals and other add-ons.

BOXX Modular is hiring for a Mobile Construction Technician for our Stoney Creek, Ontario branch.

The Service Technician is an essential role within the BOXX Modular branch. This candidate will be responsible primarily for the maintenance and repair of units while on the customer’s jobsite performing as needed Service calls that are requested by customers. The ideal candidate will be a well rounded general contractor or handyman, with experience in areas such as flooring, window, wall, door, exterior siding repair as well as some experience in plumbing.

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain service trucks and equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of service performed and parts used
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding service needs and options
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times
  • Providing on time service for customers as repairs are needed to ensure customer satisfaction and maintaining high customer service levels.
  • Ability to travel to jobsite.
  • Assess repair needed and troubleshoot to repair at time of service call if possible.
  • Discuss repair with customer in a professional manner.
  • Communicate repair back to office so that proper billing and accounting can be completed.
  • Accurately track labours hours and all materials used from inventory while on the road.
  • Follow all customer jobsite Health & Safety protocols as well as always adhering to Boxx Modular Health & Safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Clean and maintain work area before leaving site.
  • Do required vehicle inspections on Service truck.
  • Maintain organized, stocked and clean Service truck.
  • Operate truck safely per Boxx Modular guidelines.
  • Maintenance, repair, cleaning and care of equipment in BOXX Modular yard when not on the road performing Service calls.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of all trades, including plumbing, carpentry general contracting duties
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices
  • Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of comfort using computers daily to complete job
  • Results oriented
  • Fall protection, First Aid Certification and WHMIS an asset
  • Able to pass a pre-employment criminal records check and Drug and Alcohol Testing including THC
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 75lbs
  • Able to work in all weather conditions (outdoors)
