Job Summary: 

Assist the Regulated team on the gathering, reporting, analysis, and explanation of all regulatory and market conditions affecting the regulated business in Alberta. In addition, provide operational back up for the regulated supply team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Market research, seek, analyze, monitor, gathers data/information, complete and summarize analysis that might affect the regulated business.
  • Design, build and support various data tools for the business.
  • Operational back up, trading, scheduling, and nominating gas on various pipelines, entering deals into the gas management system, and checking trades as required by Risk Management Policies.
  • Monthly back up, assist in GCFR rate preparation and month end balancing report and cost of credit reporting to Finance.
  • Participate in the weekend on call rotation.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.

Minimum Requirements:

  •  Undergraduate degree, preference in Business or Economics with 1-3 years industry experience
  •  Strong analytical capabilities.
  •  Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  •  Excellent verbal and written skills.
  •  Proficient in MS Office including strong Excel skills
  • Coding expertise is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office – 45%
  • Coding expertise – 35%
  • Industry experience – 20%

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong systems aptitude, with working knowledge of MS Office is required, especially Excel (i.e., utilize advanced Excel functions and techniques to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and present findings to stakeholders).
  • Coding expertise is strong desired, ability to write and optimize code (e.g., VBA, Python, SQL) to automate processes, enhance data visualization, and streamline analytical workflows.
  • Database Management, develop and maintain databases to organize and manage complex sets of information efficiently. Ensure data integrity and accuracy through regular audits and validations.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Conduct in-depth research to gather relevant data and information from various sources. Produce findings to support decision-making processes and strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
