We have a full-time position for Operations Accounting Analyst, Calgary Alberta.
Reporting to the Operations Controller, the Operations Accounting Analyst will support the Modular Space Solutions (MSS) Business Unit. The Operations Accounting Analyst is accountable for providing Business Unit accounting functions, detailed analysis, reporting, audits, and budget & forecasts.
The successful candidate is a collaborative team player with a keen eye for detail and solid judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of tasks and train and support the Business Unit. This position offers variety and the opportunity to provide feedback and ideas in driving innovation and process improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete accounting functions including ensuring month-end accounting processes are followed and results comply with the company’s accounting policies;
- Conduct analytical review of business unit performance and results to budget, for monthly management reporting, forecasting, accruals and actuals;
- Review and analyze business unit financial forecasting including income statement, capital and cash flows
- Upload accruals and journal entries in SAP for posting;
- Prepare and evaluate financial operating reports and present findings;
- Participate in partnership audits as required by stakeholders which includes intercompany, interdivisional and Joint Venture elimination processes;
- Participate in the preparation of budget & forecasts;
- Support management with accounting, tax, treasury and controls-related issues;
- Assist in performing ad hoc analysis for internal reporting purposes;
- Assist Corporate Financial Reporting, Corporate Accounting and external auditors for business unit audit requests and external reporting;
- Ensuring proper adherence to all administrative and operational processes, procedures and policies in relation to assets; and
- Regularly offers process improvement ideas, shares best practices and facilitates standardization among divisions; and
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- University Degree in Finance, Accounting or Commerce.
- Professional accounting designation or working toward it in the next 12 to 24 months.
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting or an accounting-related role.
- IFRS Accounting experience is an asset.
- Extensive experience and understanding of accounting programs, ERP Systems and Microsoft Applications (Excel, Project, OneNote).
- Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and other departments.
- Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills and takes initiative to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
