Job Summary:
This position reports to the Director, Digital Management & Product Growth and supports Direct Energy’s efforts to strengthen its leadership in innovative offerings within the Alberta residential and small commercial retail energy market. The role supports the product and digital teams in making product development decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring successful delivery to market. Responsibilities
include analyzing digital and customer data, market and segmentation information, conducting exploratory data analysis, and providing insights. Additionally, the Product & Digital Analyst ensures our digital platforms have the necessary analytics tools for data-driven decision-making, focusing on data layer requirements, implementation, and managing analytics code in alignment with the broader NRG Consumer digital analytics approach and strategy. Experience in data architecture, information systems,
and coding languages is essential for extracting and analyzing data effectively.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Product Team Collaboration:
Conduct advanced data analysis to provide actionable insights for product development and management, using tools like demographic and psychographic segmentation.
Deliver comprehensive monthly reports that guide product teams in improving performance, including analysis of customer segments and product performance across channels.
Provide strategic analysis by deeply understanding customer data (usage, segmentation, etc.), and building prioritized recommendations for the product funnel using data and customer feedback.
Develop and maintain KPIs to monitor and enhance product performance, supporting improvements in conversion rates and customer retention metrics.
Collaborate with product teams to define data requirements for new features and product launches, ensuring data integrity and timely analytics implementation.
Perform market research to identify trends, growth opportunities, and new customer segments, and produce quarterly reports with actionable insights.
Research and present data analytics related to energy and non-energy product markets to inform decisions about which channels to deploy in specific markets.

Data Layer Requirements & Implementation:
Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document precise requirements for the data layer, capturing all user interactions and events across our digital platforms.
Structure data designs, systems, and processes to extract datasets for new product implementations including customer SAP and digital data (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
Ensure the data collected is comprehensive and accurate, providing a solid foundation for analytics.
Analytics Code Management:
Ensure that analytics tracking codes (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) are correctly implemented across all digital properties.
Manage the implementation and validation of tags across digital platforms, ensuring their correct placement and functionality to capture all relevant user interactions and events. This includes monitoring and resolving any issues with tracking to maintain data integrity and ensure accurate data collection.
Knowledge Base & Documentation:
Develop and maintain thorough documentation on analytics implementations, including data layer specifications and tag management guidelines.
Provide a comprehensive resource for the organization, ensuring that all teams have access to best practices and troubleshooting procedures.
Complete professional development courses or certifications related to data analytics or product management and apply new knowledge to improve analysis quality and insight generation.
Working Conditions:
Primarily an office environment.
Some overtime is required as special projects arise.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in digital analytics, data layer implementation, or data engineering, with expertise in tools like Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics, and experience with tag management systems like Adobe Launch and Google Tag Manager.
Proficiency in data extraction and analysis, including experience with SQL and Power BI for querying and analyzing large datasets, and familiarity with coding languages like JavaScript and Python.
Proven understanding of data layer design, implementation, and troubleshooting across websites and mobile apps.
Experience with defining and documenting data layer requirements and implementations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate insights from complex datasets, develop dashboards, and create KPIs to track performance across channels.
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and present data-driven insights in a clear and actionable way.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for creating reports, dashboards, and presentations and presenting data-driven insights clearly to cross-functional teams and
stakeholders.
Skilled in collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, solve complex problems, and apply advanced research and modeling techniques to drive business growth.
Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables and macros, with experience in data structures and analytics tools.
Experience with Agile methodologies or working with Agile teams is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
Position requires employee to work using a laptop/computer screen.
