Position Description

Job Duties:

  • Lead the quality assurance and quality control programs for safety equipment.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is compliant with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement inspection, testing, and verification protocols for safety equipment.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality safety equipment.
  • Conduct supplier audits and ensure that suppliers are meeting our quality standards.
  • Manage the safety equipment and consumable procurement process among our branches.
  • Source quotes from various safety vendors. Build and maintain QAQC-related CAPEX and R&M budgets.
  • Oversee and perform regular inspections and testing of safety equipment to ensure it meets safety standards and functionality requirements.
  • Identify any defects or discrepancies in safety equipment and work to resolve them promptly.
  • Ensure all quality control documentation is kept up to date and available for review during internal and external audits.
  • Analyze trends and patterns in quality control data to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on safety equipment regulations and industry best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Manage, train, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of QA/QC technicians and the QAQC Coordinator.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying training or development opportunities.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet workload demands, including overseeing recruitment and training of new team members.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 7 years of industrial experience.
  • Certifications related to quality control or safety management (e.g. CRSP, Quality Auditor or NSCO).
  • Must be willing to travel for meetings, audits, site/branch visit.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-specific safety equipment compliance requirements (e.g., oil and gas, manufacturing, construction).
  • Strong knowledge of the Canada Transportation Act and provincial or federal regulations across Canada.
  • Proven experience in QA/QC management, with a focus on safety equipment or related industries.
  • Experience working with suppliers and vendors in the procurement and quality control of safety equipment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively under time constraints and with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading a team of people with different strengths and vast backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills. Can receive and organize requests from various departments.
