Overview
The Quality Control Technician’s goal is to ensure the final quality of concrete products, ensuring the highest customer satisfaction for the products. Areas of responsibility include quality control activities such as testing of raw materials, calibration of devices, performing pre-pour and post-pour inspections, and the control of concrete mix designs.
Responsibilities:
Quality control through the active testing of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods
Responsible for the testing, evaluation and preparation of the any required mix design types
Routinely inspect plant operation and product quality as per specification requirements
Read and interpret shop drawings and engineered details
Provide accurate and timely reports
Maintain and develop strong working relationship with plant staff, customers and/or representatives
Perform precise plant and laboratory sampling and testing services on construction materials to determine suitability of materials
Interpret calculations, specifications, tolerances, standards, etc.
Reject defective work and material to ensure quality of product
Communicate both orally and in writing on the findings of tests results and analysis
Provide detailed daily test reports of inspection results, and keeps record organized and well maintained
Performs additional quality control duties as assigned
Safety and Environment
Adhere to all company safety and environmental practices and policies – training provided
Enforce safety on the work site (truckers, visitors, and plant crew)
Contribute toward the overall success of the safety program by following set rules procedures and practices
Identify and report workplace hazards and make positive suggestions for their elimination or control
Perform duties in the safest manner prescribed
Required PPE must be worn at all times
Maintenance
Complete recommended routine maintenance and calibrations on the lab equipment
Responsible for updating and maintaining all equipment maintenance and calibration records
Qualifications:
Civil Technology or Engineering is preferred or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
Computer Proficiency: QC Software and MS Office applications, especially MS Excel
Able to understand and work with QC lab equipment
Experience working in lab environment
PCI Level 1 and Level 2 Personnel Certifications would be an asset
Knowledge of MNL 116 and MNL 117 would be an asset
Ability to work evenings and weekends, which may include night shifts and overtime
Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
