
Senior Geologist/Mining Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Geologist/Mining Engineer who will play a pivotal role in our organization who is registered as a P.Eng or P.Geo. The ideal candidate must possess professional status to act as a QP for Reserve & Resource reporting. With knowledge in aggregates or a willingness to undergo training to achieve competence in this area of expertise.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Provide technical leadership and support to create and maintain life-of-operation mine plans.
- Undertaking Reserve & Resource reconciliations.
- Assist in the management of the reserve position to ensure sustainable operations and optimize reserves for the company's benefit.
- Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, with a strong background in geotechnics (soils and hard rock).
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including land, environmental, and operations departments.
- Participate in strategic planning efforts and align activities to achieve company goals in Reserve & Resource reporting.
- Potentially manage and lead teams, leveraging managerial experience where applicable.
- Lead geotechnical training initiatives, leveraging expertise in geotechnics
- Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for annual Reserve & Resource reporting after receiving necessary training.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Registered as a P.Eng or P.Geo
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Geotechnics, Mining, Construction.
Required Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mining engineering or geology.
Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in mining software's for accurate reserve and resource calculations, block modelling would be advantageous. Proficiency in GIS and AutoCAD is beneficial.
Travel Requirements: 30-40%

- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical standards.
- Mentor and support junior staff members in their professional development.
- Experience with special projects such as due diligence processes is beneficial.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
