ROLE STATEMENT:

The Shop Technician will be a member of the Maintenance Department responsible for greasing components, taking oil samples, and changing fluids and filters as per the Maintenance schedule, assisting the Pump Coordinator(s) with fluid end repair and maintenance as well as maintaining a safe and clean working environment in the maintenance shop. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Shop Technician will focus on working with Mechanics and Electronics Technicians to facilitate equipment preventative maintenance, general labour duties in the pump shop and the basic upkeep of the maintenance shop, assisting the Parts department and other maintenance staff while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

• Work safely in accordance with all company safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements

• Must attend all pre job meetings and attend safety meetings when required

• Assist with equipment and iron testing after repairs and maintenance have been completed

• Assist with fluid end repair and maintenance 

• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Calfrac’s policies, procedures, and regulations

• Load and unload equipment and/or product

• Grease units

• Take and label oil samples

• Change lubricants and filters

• Notify Lead Hand of any noted deficiencies 

• Create work order requests

• Clean and assist with the maintenance of company vehicles

• Assist in completing equipment repairs and inspections

• Work with Mechanics and Electronics Technicians to resolve equipment issues

• Provide assistance as needed to the Maintenance and/or Parts Department 

• Assist in general labour and cleanup in the maintenance shop and yard

• Repair and maintain all Calfrac equipment in a timely and effective manner

• Ensure that all paperwork is completed both accurately and on time

• Verify repairs and ensure they are completed and documented

• Complete maintenance inspections

• Record all equipment deficiencies

• Remote field work may be required 

• Participate in equipment modifications, campaigns & recalls

• Operate the forklift when required

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:

• Flexible to work a variety of shifts (shift work, day shift, night shift)

• Follow and enforce safe work procedures, codes, and regulations

• Energetic self-starter, able to work in a dynamic environment

• Able to handle multiple tasks by prioritizing and maintaining a high attention to detail

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

• Work and inspire others to work at high performance levels

• Able to work alone and willingness to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment, with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision 

• Perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, squatting, bending and reaching 

• Must be able to frequently lift up to 50lbs  

• Basic computer skills would be beneficial to this position (Microsoft Office Suite)

• Basic mechanical aptitude

• Knowledge of coil tubing, fracturing, and truck and trailer an asset but not required

• This position is considered to be a Safety Sensitive Position and may require additional screening

• This position has bona fide physical requirements and may require additional screening (please refer to the applicable Physical Demands Profile)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma preferred

• Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent required (No GDL)

• Satisfactory Drivers Abstract required

• Previous maintenance experience would be considered an asset
