Your Opportunity at SECURE Energy

The Specialist of Training, Competency & Management Systems is primarily responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of SECURE’s Operations Management System (OMS) through focused stakeholder engagements across our Waste Management Operations and key corporate functions.

This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta

The Team

The team provides support for the design, development and implementation of SECURE’s Operations Management System and is responsible for supporting the sustainment and continuous improvement of SECURE’s Training and Competence Program.

Work Environment

Full-time permanent position working in an office environment.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, implement, and find opportunities for continuous improvement of an operations management system for our Waste Management Operations.
  • Development and implementation of OMS processes and tools, while leveraging risk management principles and continuous improvement techniques (plan, do, check, adjust).
  • Determine opportunities to increase awareness and provide training to the organization on the OMS.
  • Build organizational management system competencies across our Operations, while supporting corporate functions and leadership levels to enable successful adoption and integration.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain operational data to promote a data driven approach to problem solving, prioritization and continuous improvement.
  • Support alignment and integration of Health & Safety Environment Management System (HSEMS) documentation (Standards, Practices & Procedures).

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, discipline, trade, or related experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in safety loss or operations management system development, implementation, operation and improvement.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior leadership engagements relating to management systems, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives/actions.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working directly with field operations and assets.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with safety, compliance or performance monitoring/reporting software and systems.
  • Experience evaluating gaps, findings, and deficiencies; developing and implementing fit-for-purpose initiatives and improvement actions; providing monitoring and reporting progress to closure.
  • Experience with document control management structures, processes, and systems.
  • Facilitation and change management experience or certification (e.g. Kotter, Prosci, etc.).
  • Exceptional listening and clarifying skills; must be able to produce tangible materials from concepts and/or verbal instruction.
  • Ability to influence without positional authority to gain cooperation of employees and leaders.
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain relationships at all levels by delivering exceptional service.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Power BI dashboard development and maintenance experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of related regulations/standards: ABSA 512, ZCSA662, ISO 45001, ISO 31000, ISO 19011, CER OPR are considered an asset.

Education

Preferred

Technical/other training or better.

Experience

2 years:

Experience working directly with safety, compliance or performance monitoring/reporting software and systems.

5 years:

Experience working directly with field operations and assets

5 years:

Senior leadership engagements relating to management systems, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives/actions.

7 years:

Experience in safety loss or operations management system development, implementation, operation and improvement
