Job Description

The Wellchek Operator in Grande Prairie, Alberta will assist in the inspection and repair of used tubular goods and is responsible for pipe handling, cleaning and inspection and repair of used tubular goods, including drill pipe.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for conducting the inspection of production tubing at customer well-sites in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Responsible for all duties associated with the operation of the Used Tubing Wellchek Inspection Unit, including the everyday operation, maintenance, size change-over, and calibration/standardization of the unit. 
  • You will review and interpret the data generated by the inspection equipment and grade the pipe per applicable specifications. 
  • Responsibilities also may include supervising and coordinating the work of a Crewman, as well as liaising with onsite customer representatives in a professional manner.     
  • Ensure the WellChek Unit is maintained to company standards, including all calibration and unit safety logs. 
  • Perform required Used Tubing Wellchek Inspection Unit maintenance and repair and will coordinate the ordering of the unit inspection equipment, parts, and supplies with the appropriate supervisor. Also, has responsibility for maintenance of the truck in which the equipment is mounted. 
  • General housekeeping
  • Follow all applicable company and corporate policies, principles, procedures, and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in training programs as required by the company.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience in Wellchek, Wellhead Isolog or used tubing inspection procedures and techniques. 
  • B.I.T. and Radiation Safety School would be an asset. 
  • Safety certifications required include H2S Alive, CSO, Standard First Aid, Defensive Driving and TDG.     
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer service required. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Travel is required.

  • Lifting - Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
  • Carrying - Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder.
  • Pushing - Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.
  • Pulling - Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves towards the force.
  • Strength Demand:
    • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Required at all times to wear proper protective clothing and equipment and perform duties in a safe manner.
