The Wireline Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the wireline truck at the service location, rigging up the wireline truck and crane (as applicable) at the service location and assisting with all wireline operations both in the shop and in the field. The Wireline Operator operates and maintains the assigned truck and equipment, as well as keeps records for the overall operation.
 

This position is based out of Grande Prairie, AB and operates on a 14 day on 7 day off schedule.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to all Tier 1 Energy Solutions (Tier 1) policies and procedures, furthermore understand and adhere to any client’s policies and procedures;
  • Ability to promote safety awareness;
  • Build and arm perforating strings (inspection and verification of gun related equipment);
  • Drives company pickups that may be pulling trailers in accordance with the rules and regulations of governing transportation guidelines and Tier 1 policy and procedures;
  • Under direct supervision the Wireline Operator will be involved in the preparation of the unit and calibration of equipment;
  • Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor safely, efficiently according to established standards, policies and guidelines;
  • Rig up and rig down wireline equipment and pressure control equipment;
  • Under direct supervision the Wireline Operator will redresses tools in the shop and in the field;
  • Assists the supervisor in the troubleshooting of too, equipment and truck problems;
  • Cleans and maintains company vehicles, tools and equipment;
  • Other duties as assigned by the reporting Manager.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Some Wireline training (an asset);
  • Explosives Safety (preferred);
  • Basic Electronic knowledge;
  • Willingness to learn and grow within Tier 1;
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple oral and written English instructions and effectively communicate information to others;
  • Basic math skills (additions, subtraction, multiplication and division);
  • Ability to think quickly and apply problem solving skills to situations as they come up in the field;
  • Ability to work in a positive team environment;
  • Ability to work with hand and power tools;
  • Mechanical aptitude;
  • Required to keep all applicable certifications up to date as required by Tier 1’s Quality and HSE;
  • Ability to operate independently;
  • Ability to champion a company safety culture.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain);
  • Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling (70 pounds);
  • Frequent bending, twisting and standing;
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions;
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week;
  • Exposure to high noise over 85 dba;
  • Working with explosives.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 5 license (a must)
  • Results from a pre-employment test must be deemed acceptable in accordance to Tier 1’s policies;
  • 5 years drivers abstract must be in compliant with Tier 1’s guidelines;
  • Results from a back ground check must be deemed acceptable in accordance to Tier 1’s guidelines;
  • Ability to travel;
