Job Summary:The Dispatcher in Nisku, Alberta is responsible for day-to-day operations of customer service and workload for their employees by scheduling, training, safety and promoting Company policies and procedures.Duties and Activities:<ul><li>Respond to requests for transportation services and document these requests in the Daily Log Record. Enquire about additional and future services required, promote Tuboscope Transportation’s ability to perform those services.</li><li>Actively look for other work not directly related to original request including: Upcoming projects, Backhauls, New clients.</li><li>Be familiar with the provisions of all legislation and regulations affecting the operations of the Transportation Department.</li><li>Ensure that properly trained personnel and appropriate equipment are assigned to complete requested transportation services.</li><li>Ensure that all employees under dispatcher’s supervision are familiar with all Company Policies and Procedures affecting the operations of the Transportation Department.</li><li>Coordinate personnel and equipment and provide support arrangements required for the successful completion of the load, job or project.</li><li>Ensure that the Daily Log Record is properly updated throughout the day.</li><li>Review all appropriate documentation from field staff for quality, non-conformance or errors.</li><li>Interview Drivers and Customers for performance and continuous improvement opportunities. Document and forward to Dispatch Manager.</li><li>Promote, endorse and participate in all Company Safety Programs. Attend/facilitate Safety Meetings. Frequently review all safety meeting minutes. Set a notable example in personal safety conduct.</li><li>Ensure that employees are aware of all known or reasonably foreseeable health or safety hazards in the area they will work.</li><li>Take whatever steps are necessary to investigate, document and follow-up on incidents and ensure that computer records pertaining to Incident Records are maintained.</li><li>Ensure the equitable distribution of available hours to drivers and swampers.</li><li>Participate in training programs when required to do so by the Company.</li><li>Closely monitor the activities of all drivers to ensure that the Hours of Service and Pre/Post Trip Regulations are complied with at all times.</li><li>Conduct a daily review of Driver’s Daily Logs and input results into appropriate computer programs.</li><li>Ensure that records are maintained of all training provided to transportation employees, and that this information is recorded in the employee’s Driver’s file and appropriate computer files. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing efficient, cost-effective service routes that minimize travel time, meet customer needs and coordinate driver’s schedules.&nbsp;<h2>Work Environment</h2>The Dispatch role is a full-time position based out of our Richmond office, scheduled Monday to Friday with 8-hour workdays.<h2>A Day in The Life</h2><ul><li>Receive service requests from internal and external sources.</li><li>Enter service request details into the customer management system to create work orders.</li><li>Coordinate with clients to schedule service dates based upon priority and work order age.</li><li>Develop service routes to maximize equipment and driver utilization while minimizing travel time.</li><li>Ensure drivers are equipped with all paperwork, inventory sheets, consumables, etc. to fulfill customer needs at all scheduled stops.</li><li>Understand, communicate, and adhere to all site-specific safety requirements as well as DOT and TDG regulations.</li><li>Update the Central Dispatch calendar as required, and distribute the calendar via email daily to drivers, remote locations, and transportation.</li><li>Regularly update the call-in map to reflect completed runs versus open work orders and assist in asset tracking and bin inventories.</li></ul><h2>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Strong communication, and customer service skills.</li><li>Working knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry including experience with oilfield roads, orientation requirements, site access/egress limitations etc.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with dispatching software and or waste tracking software is considered an asset.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and an ability to multitask.</li><li>Familiarity with TDG regulations and Provincial and Federal DOT regulations and permits.</li><li>Capacity to foster relationships and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders which involves adept listening skills to comprehend directions and feedback.</li><li>Ability to diplomatically address any arising issues or concerns.</li><li>Experience in a Waste or Transportation related industry is preferred.</li><li>Possess strong problem solving, decision making, research and analytical skills.</li><li>Possess the versatility to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work settings.
