They will be identifying, developing and implementing engineering and system projects to improve plant facilities condition, operability, equipment reliability, cost optimization, and compliance with environmental, regulatory &amp; safety targets. In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the safety and value of all company assets through increased reliability and lower operating costs while meeting plant operations requirements within budget guidelines.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Manage the plant facilities and facilities related equipment, ensure it is in good condition and available for operational requirements.</li><li>Manage and coordinate maintenance contractors for the buildings and facilities equipment.</li><li>Contract negotiations for facilities maintenance contractors</li><li>Identify, scope, plan and implement building and facilities equipment repairs/upgrade projects</li><li>Perform equipment reliability analysis on problematic equipment to identify and implement solutions</li><li>Guarantee and foster compliance with OH&amp;S and environment policies.&nbsp;Tackle specific actions to support this.</li><li>Assist with inspection coordination on registered equipment such as personnel elevators</li><li>Assist with contractor supervision for plant air maintenance and repairs</li><li>Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness.</li><li>Support/execute internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient maintenance activities, including actions to prevent and detect fraud</li><li>Provide periodic on-call technical input and maintenance repair supervision</li><li>Facilities equipment includes freight &amp; personnel elevators, building &amp; plant HVAC systems, boilers &amp; boiler water treatment, plant air compressors/air dryers, overhead doors, overhead hoisting equipment, non-process plumbing, building structural, exterior &amp; interior repairs, office phone systems, and other items as assigned.</li></ul>&nbsp;Relationships with Other Jobs:&nbsp;<ul><li>Reports to the Maintenance Manager</li><li>Work with the capital project team to execute facilities upgrade projects as required</li><li>Work with preventive maintenance and with process teams in improving the reliability of the facilities equipment as required, developing preventative maintenance programs for it as required.</li><li>Assist maintenance manager in the development of the facilities portion of the maintenance budget and the tracking of performance indicators</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree holder in&nbsp;in Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>Registered as an EIT with APEGA</li><li>Work Experience: At least 1 year’s experience (co-op terms acceptable) in a heavy industry plant/production environment, large commercial building maintenance environment, or other background involving facilities maintenance/repair.</li><li>Required Computer and Software Skills: Excel, Word, Email.</li><li>Experience with maintenance contractor supervision</li><li>Experience with SAP</li><li>Experience with freight &amp; personnel elevators</li><li>Experience with building maintenance including roofing, HVAC, and plumbing</li><li>Experience with overhead doors, hoisting equipment and boilers</li></ul>Additional Requirements:<ul><li>Good communication skills.</li><li>Strong ability to work self-directed.</li><li>Demonstrated problem solving skills and sound decision making based upon available information.</li><li>Occasional on-call periods as per rotation</li><li>Flexible, able to adjust to changing priorities and propose improvement actions.</li><li>Able to facilitate the collaboration of people in assigned area.</li><li>Initiative and self-starting abilities; willing to take action to resolve problems.</li><li>Set and possess high work standards.</li><li>Flexibility with working hours and ability to manage stress, to provide assistance and to encourage the maintenance team in critical situations</li></ul>As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.YOUR LAFARGE EXPERIENCE At Lafarge, there is endless opportunity for you to play your part.
