In this position, you would be responsible for providing customer service to people coming into the station to drop off garbage and recycling. The ideal candidate for this position would be available for vacation coverage and weekends as needed.</p><h2><strong>Work Environment</strong></h2><p>This position operates on an on-call schedule to provide coverage for sick days, vacation, and additional support as needed.</p><h2><strong>A Day in The Life</strong></h2><p>The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Exercise good public relations at all times</li><li>Process computer tickets, reconcile daily cash, manage emails, and complete required online and in-field training</li><li>Open and close the access gates at the Transfer Station in accordance with the Hours of Operation, ensuring that all gates are properly secured outside of the Hours of Operation</li><li>Conduct routine inspections of the perimeter fences to identify any occurrence of unauthorized entry, damage or other problems</li><li>Dispose of any unauthorized material dumped at the entrance gate or other similar locations, including any material dumped outside of the Hours of Operation</li><li>Direct traffic flow at the Transfer Stations having regard to public safety and in accordance with the traffic management plan</li><li>Supervise the placement of Waste into Containers and the compactor system, as appropriate</li><li>Remove any non-compliant materials from deposited loads</li><li>Prevent the scavenging of waste, recyclable or product stewardship materials by facility users</li><li>Maintain all buildings on site, including the yard, in a clean condition which may include, collection and disposal of fugitive waste material and litter that escapes during the operation of the facilities, winter maintenance such as shoveling snow, sweeping in and around all buildings</li></ul><h2><strong>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</strong></h2><p>The individual in this role will have:</p><ul><li>1 – 2 years of General Laborer experience</li><li>Competent at completing documents on a daily basis</li><li>Good understanding of the regional Occupational Health and Safety requirements and ability to operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner</li><li>Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments.</li></ul><h2><strong>What's in it for you</strong></h2><p>At SECURE, we focus on opportunities for growth and improvement; for our employees, our customers, our partners, and the communities we operate in. Waste tracking, shipping &amp; receiving, and safety documentation are key aspects of this role, and the successful candidate will be part of a team ensuring all aspects are completed in a timely fashion meeting management and regulatory expectations.</p><h2><strong>Work Environment</strong></h2><p>This position entails a standard 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call duties. This role may require flexibility in shifts, extended hours, weekend work, and occasional travel as dictated by business needs. Candidates must be prepared to work in challenging work environments including working outdoors in all weather conditions.</p><h2><strong>A Day in The Life</strong></h2><ul><li>Update waste tracking systems and communicate with Project Coordinators and the Billing team.</li><li>Identify, verify, and receive hazardous and non-hazardous waste entering the facility.</li><li>Ensure all required documents adhere to legal requirements as well as maintain compliance within SECURE guidelines.</li><li>Ensure waste is accurately packaged, classified, documented and stored.</li><li>Consolidate and repack waste as required for efficient processing and transportation.</li><li>Perform field level waste identification tests as required to ensure paperwork accuracy and compliance.</li><li>Prepare waste samples for laboratory analysis as required.</li><li>Actively participate in safety meetings and daily tailgate meetings.</li><li>Perform repair &amp; maintenance tasks and general labour duties</li><li>Actively participate in continuous improvement actions such as Hazard Identifications, non-conformance reports, Hazard Hunts, and Inspections.</li><li>Abide by SECURE’s Occupational Health and Safety Program</li></ul><h2><strong>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>Technical and regulatory knowledge related to the hazardous waste disposal industry, with the ability to ensure compliance with TDG Regulations.</li><li>Shipping and receiving/general warehousing experience would be an asset</li><li>Post-Secondary Science education related to Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Studies would be an asset.</li><li>Effective time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines individually and part of a team.</li><li>Competent computer skills including MS Office and ability to learn SECURE’s suite of waste tracking and compliance programs.</li><li>Attention to detail and an ability to accurately complete various documents such as waste manifests or bills of lading, inspection reports, and safety paperwork.</li><li>Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and spend a significant portion of each day on your feet.</li><li>Physically fit and able to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, opening, or closing various containers and other heavy objects.</li><li>Experience operating a forklift or other mobile equipment would be an asset.</li><li>Personal values aligned with SECURE’s Core Values: Life, Accountability, Collaboration and Excellence.</li></ul><h2><strong>What's in it for you</strong></h2><p>At SECURE, we focus on opportunities for growth and improvement; for our employees, our customers, our partners, and the communities we operate in.
