Safety is our top priority: it influences our actions and shapes our culture.</p><h2><strong>Your Opportunity at SECURE</strong></h2><p>SECURE Richmond Transfer Station is accepting applicants for a Transfer Station Technician role.&nbsp; Responsibilities of the successful candidate include receiving containerized and bulk hazardous and non-hazardous waste material, reviewing and completing waste documentation and scale tickets, identifying, consolidating, and repacking various waste streams, and completing day-to-day tasks such as facility inspections and equipment maintenance. Waste tracking, shipping &amp; receiving, and safety documentation are key aspects of this role, and the successful candidate will be part of a team ensuring all aspects are completed in a timely fashion meeting management and regulatory expectations.</p><h2><strong>The Team</strong></h2><p>The SECURE Richmond Transfer Station is dedicated to safely and efficiently handling hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The team works collaboratively to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company guidelines.</p><h2><strong>Work Environment</strong></h2><p>This position entails a standard 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call duties. This role may require flexibility in shifts, extended hours, weekend work, and occasional travel as dictated by business needs. Candidates must be prepared to work in challenging work environments including working outdoors in all weather conditions.</p><h2><strong>A Day in The Life</strong></h2><ul><li>Identify, verify, and receive hazardous and non-hazardous waste entering the facility.</li><li>Perform field level waste identification tests as required to ensure paperwork accuracy and compliance.</li><li>Prepare waste samples for laboratory analysis as required.</li><li>Ensure waste is accurately packaged, classified, documented and stored.</li><li>Update waste tracking system(s) and communicate with Project Coordinators and the Billing team.</li><li>Ensure all required documents adhere to legal requirements as well as maintain compliance within SECURE guidelines.</li><li>Consolidate and repack waste as required for efficient processing and transportation.</li><li>Actively participate in safety meetings and daily tailgate meetings.</li><li>Perform repair &amp; maintenance tasks and general labour duties as required.</li><li>Actively participate in continuous improvement actions such as Hazard Identifications, non-conformance reports, Hazard Hunts, and Inspections.</li><li>Abide by SECURE’s Occupational Health and Safety Program.</li></ul><h2><strong>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>Technical and regulatory knowledge related to the hazardous waste disposal industry, with the ability to ensure compliance with TDG Regulations.</li><li>Effective time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines individually and part of a team.</li><li>Competent computer skills including MS Office and ability to learn SECURE’s suite of waste tracking and compliance programs.</li><li>Attention to detail and an ability to accurately complete various documents such as waste manifests or bills of lading, inspection reports, and safety paperwork.</li><li>Ability to follow direction as well as understand and adhere to written processes as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures or other instructional documents.</li><li>Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, and spend a significant portion of each day on your feet.</li><li>Physically fit and able to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, opening, or closing various containers and other heavy objects.</li><li>Post-secondary education related to Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Studies would be an asset.</li><li>Previous experience with TDG and WHMIS would be an asset, as well as experience with shipping &amp; receiving or warehouse processes.</li><li>Good understanding of the regional Occupational Health and Safety requirements and ability to operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner.</li><li>Experience operating a forklift or other mobile equipment would be an asset.</li><li>Personal values aligned with SECURE’s Core Values: Life, Accountability, Collaboration and Excellence.</li></ul><h2><strong>What's in it for you</strong></h2><p>At SECURE, we focus on opportunities for growth and improvement; for our employees, our customers, our partners, and the communities we operate in.
