Vallen is an industry leader in delivering flexible supply chain solutions while creating value for our customers, our supply partners, and our associates.An exciting opportunity has become available to join our team as a Payroll Specialist.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Administers &amp; processes bi-weekly payroll to include, but not limited to: loading &amp; auditing hours, processing and paying monthly incentives and commissions, calculating checks, expenses, allowances or other special pay</li><li>Maintains and updates time</li><li>Prepare year-end employee tax slips and/or forms and submitting government filings to meet deadlines (eg: T4s &amp; T2200s).</li><li>ADP Workforce Now Reporting.</li><li>Assist with areas of improvement within the payroll process.</li><li>Review associate records with supporting documentation for new hires, current associates and terminated associates.</li><li>Prepares manual checks on an as-needed</li><li>Facilitates off cycle payrolls for special payments such as</li><li>Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, leave of absences and pay rate</li><li>Establishes efficient and effective payroll and benefit processing while adhering to</li><li>Government Annual Returns for example: BC EHT, ON EHT etc.</li><li>Process and reconcile remittances such as source deductions and RRSPs/DPSPs/TFSAs.</li><li>Maintain records of all vacation entitlements and usage, outstanding lieu time and sick days taken within the payroll system.</li><li>Collaborates and works cross functionally with other HR team members and</li><li>Read, understand, and follow Vallen’s health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&amp;S legislation/regulations.</li><li>Actively participate in Vallen’s health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections.</li><li>Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses.</li><li>Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements.</li><li>Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks.</li><li>All other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, etc.) coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Payroll/HR Shared Services environment.
