This position provides strong technical expertise in project controls practices and contributes to continuous improvement of processes and reporting standards.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Project Controls Specialist works closely with Project Managers, Construction, Finance, Supply Chain, and Senior Leadership to maintain consistent reporting, governance, and controls across Capital, Operations, Landfill, and Optimization projects. The role is accountable for applying scalable project controls processes that align with SECURE’s governance frameworks and support successful project delivery.</p><h2><strong>The Team</strong></h2><p>The Technical Services team is collaborative, engaging, and made up of dynamic individuals who are passionate about driving SECURE’s success.</p><h2><strong>Work Environment</strong></h2><p>The Projects Controls Specialist position is a full-time role based at our Calgary Brookfield office. It follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with a standard 40-hour work week.</p><h2><strong>A Day in The Life</strong></h2><p>The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:</p><p>Partner with Project Managers, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure alignment of budgets, forecasts, and execution strategies.</p><p>Support month-end activities by working with Project Managers to ensure accurate accruals, forecasting, and variance reporting across active projects.</p><p>Collaborate with Supply Chain to revise and issue project-related purchase orders as required, maintaining alignment with budgets, forecasts, change management processes, and project reporting requirements.</p><p>Contribute to the development and optimization of project control processes, templates, and reporting tools, supporting efficiency and continuous improvement.</p><p>Promote effective use of ERP systems (Microsoft D365 F&amp;O) and related tools for project tracking and reporting.</p><p>Support the development, maintenance, and governance of project management tools, including D365 SOPs, AFE approval templates, and reporting frameworks, ensuring alignment with corporate standards such as the Project Management Manual (PMM) and Cost Control Framework.</p><p>Provide technical expertise and support to project teams in cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting.</p><p>Assist in integrating business intelligence tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Excel) to enable data-driven decision-making.</p><p>Support the adoption of digital solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and visibility across project controls functions.</p><h2><strong>Skills, Experience &amp; Qualifications</strong></h2><p>The individual in this role will have:</p><ul><li>5 years of progressive experience in project controls, cost control, or project management support.</li><li>Experience in oilfield, energy, or industrial projects preferred.</li><li>Strong understanding of project control methodologies, forecasting, earned value management, and reporting.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Apps, Outlook).</li><li>Advanced ERP experience; Microsoft D365 F&amp;O preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with project cost systems, vendor management tools, and invoice processing (e.g., OpenInvoice).</li><li>Strong communication skills, able to influence and collaborate across levels of the organization.</li><li>Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.</li><li>Professional certifications such as PMP, AACE (Cost Control), or other related designations are considered strong assets.</li><li>Commitment to safety, integrity, and SECURE’s core values.</li><li>Ability to travel to SECURE facilities as required</li></ul><h2><strong>What's in it for you</strong></h2><p>At SECURE, we are committed to fostering growth and continuous improvement—for our employees, customers, partners, and the communities where we operate.
