The Technical Specialist in Training (TSIT) will be a member of the Technical Services department responsible for progressing through an advanced 18-to-24-month training program in the Field, Lab and Corporate Head Office. Overseen by the Lead of Placement &amp; Design, the TSIT will focus on gaining firsthand experience to all areas of our business while growing technical and operational understanding of hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing and acid/nitrogen operations.OUR CULTURE: Calfrac, we believe in being an integral part of the communities where we operate and we support a variety of giving activities throughout the year. Our support falls under two main areas: volunteering or donation. Whenever possible, the initiatives and organizations we undertake to promote and support fall into the following categories: Environment, Education, Indigenous, Social Services, Arts &amp; Culture and Community Sport. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: The TSIT Program consists of four main phases: 1. Orientation and Lab Technical Services – Calgary Head Office and Calgary Lab 2. Fracturing – In the Red Deer or Grande Prairie District Fracturing Departments 3. Coiled Tubing and Nitrogen (CTAN) – In the Red Deer or Grande Prairie District CTAN Departments 4. Technical Services – Calgary Head Office Orientation:<ul><li>&nbsp;Attend the Orientation and Training School (OaTS) to gain all oilfield tickets required by law and to understand all Calfrac procedures and policies to ensure safety objectives are adhered to</li></ul>Fracturing:<ul><li>Participate in field site training in pressure pumping operations, materials and product management, logistics and software use</li><li>Become familiar with basic fracturing concepts to understand how each piece of equipment operates and their relative importance to the operation</li><li>Shadow fracturing operators and or supervisors to gain a further understanding such as the following; equipment operational limitations, plumbing and operation of units, chemical loading and transferring, chemical tote-strapping, chemical injection points and pre-job QA/QC, treating iron rig in and rig out procedures, iron and equipment maintenance / inspection, check valve operations and isolation tools, hydraulics and pneumatics and proppant transport, onsite storage and handling</li><li>Assist the data van operator as they set up their monitoring software, connect cables to the integral equipment, pressure test treating iron, communicate with members of the crew and execute the job</li></ul> Coiled Tubing:<ul><li>Become familiar with basic coil tubing concepts to understand how each piece of equipment operates and their relative importance to the operation</li><li>Learn the fundamentals of Coiled Tubing operations such as spooling, BOP operations, injector operation, stripper operation, accumulator operation and pipe management and fatigue</li><li>Learn the different aspects of Coiled Tubing such as fluid pumpers, Nitrogen pumpers, Spooling trailers, and Coil Rigs</li><li>Learn the different operations that the Coiled Tubing group is capable of such as Annular Fracturing, Velocity Strings, Mill Outs, Fishing, Tubing Conveyed Perforating, and Clean Outs</li></ul>Laboratory:<ul><li>Laboratory training will include fluid QA / QC, fluid system chemistry and field QA / QC support if required</li><li>Gain an understanding of the individual chemicals and the importance of each</li><li>Shadow an on-call person, learning each of the tests required and gaining an appreciation for the types of service work that can occur.</li></ul>Technical Services Head Office:<ul><li>Training to include job program creation in both Frac &amp; CTAN, treatment evaluation, satellite fracturing hosting, data entry and support to technical and sale services</li><li>Work with Technical Services members and management team and receive basic exposure to daily operations within the group</li><li>Become familiar with the work flow process including Operations, Engineering and Sales</li></ul>Schedule:•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 15 on &amp; 6 off (while in the field for 12-18 months)•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5 on &amp; 2 off (when transitioned to head office)Shifts:•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Day shift &amp; Night shift (we run 24-hour operations; your crew will be put on either shift)Location (must be willing to live in either location for TSIT duration):•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Red Deer, AB•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Grande Prairie, ABKEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:<ul><li>A highly energetic, self-starter comfortable working in a fast paced environment that is deadline driven; more importantly is centered on providing quality information</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Must be able to interact effectively and work comfortably with both field and management staff</li><li>Comfortable in a dynamic, project driven, team based environment</li><li>Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential</li><li>Ability to work demanding field schedules including day and night shifts on a 15 days on and 6 days off schedule</li><li>Intermediate mechanical and troubleshooting skills</li><li>Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions in remote locations</li><li>Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail</li></ul>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or Technology Diploma in Engineering</li><li>0-2 years of related experience is preferred</li><li>Experience in the oilfield services sector is considered an asset</li><li>A clean 5-year drivers abstract and minimum Class 5 Drivers License</li></ul>Individual must currently hold an Engineering Degree/Diploma or be close to completion as this is a full-time position.We would like to thank all applicants for applying to this role but only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
