ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge Construction is looking for a Seasonal Rakerperson to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This role involves performing various tasks related to asphalt maintenance, including raking asphalt to ensure proper drainage and maintain the aesthetics of the asphalt mat. The Rakerperson will also assist with minor truck and equipment maintenance, site cleanup, and other labor duties as needed while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
Rake asphalt to maintain drainage and preserve the aesthetics of the asphalt mat.
Conduct minor truck and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
Fix imperfections in the asphalt mat.
Assist with site cleanup, including shoveling, raking, and sweeping.
Perform other labor duties as required to support the team.
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience: Experience in checking grades
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction practices
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel between job sites within the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas
Additional Requirements:
Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.
Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills.
Experience in checking grades is an asset.
Attention to detail and knowledge of construction practices are also assets.
Ability to operate other paving equipment is an asset.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
