POSITION SUMMARY

The primary function of the Civil General Foreman is to provide site level "hands on" technical expertise during the Construction Plant based Project. A Strike Civil Foreman provide leadership and scheduling, and coordinate, supervise and ensure the safety and productivity of a larger crew.

PROJECT DETAILS

  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400/shift
  • Camp retention: $25/day

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Knowledge in deep excavations inside plants and experience working with shoring is considered an asset.
  • Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate this to the appropriate people
  • Ensure quality and inspection of installation
  • Apply project procedures, work site policies and collective agreement requirements
  • Inform the Superintendent of any out-of-scope work
  • Provide crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe effective manner
  • Teach, Mentor and guide works on the use of excavators, dozers, compaction equipment, tampers
  • Must follow all OH&S/WorkSafeBC Guidelines for safe Excavations, Safe entry to excavations.
  • Complete One calls, Ground Disturbance Checklist prior to excavating
  • Follow Strike Ground Disturbance procedures and SWP for a safe execution of any Ground disturbance activity
  • Experienced in Operating Heavy Equipment is a must although not being an operator for this role, planning, resource planning and scheduling activities to our timelines is a must.
  • Must be able to complete Competency Assessments on operator
  • Coordinate manpower movement within their area

QUALIFICATIONS

Safety Tickets Required

  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
  • WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding
  • Ground Disturbance 201

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Heavy Civil Construction and/or Mining Industry
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Capable of setting and managing priorities to meet all deadlines
  • Strong coordination skills and organization skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
