Overview

Lafarge Edmonton Construction is seeking a dedicated and skilled Sweeper Operator to join our team. As a Sweeper Operator, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and safety on our construction sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a leading construction company. Responsibilities: 

  • Operate sweeper equipment to clean and maintain construction sites, roadways, and parking areas.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on sweeper machinery to ensure proper functioning.
  • Remove debris, dirt, and other materials from construction sites using the sweeper.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with construction crews to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs and maintenance reports.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and prioritize work assignments.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times to uphold quality standards and promote a positive work environment.

Safety & Environment: 

  • Adhere to all company safety and environmental practices and policies – training provided  
  • All spills must be first contained and the proper authorities notified immediately thereafter (follow written procedure)

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating sweeper equipment or similar machinery preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks in outdoor environments.
  • Commitment to adhering to company policies and safety regulations at all times.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. As such, clearance on a pre-employment medical is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of following safe work procedures and be able to complete field risk assessments.
