ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is responsible for providing operational support and leadership to the Edmonton Pipe division’s business growth and development. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, this position will be responsible for estimating and pricing of tendered and negotiated projects including the project management of all acquired concrete pipe or drainage projects. With consistent liason with customers, the project manager will be involved in estimating operations in the product line to maintain and build new relationships alongside the commercial team.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Foster a cross-collaborative environment, coordinating teams while strengthening relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Successfully manage projects simultaneously by leading multiple teams, and ensure timely completion within scope and reasonable budget.
  • Ensure accurate estimation and quotation through competitive and strategic sales quotations.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving strategies through conflict resolution and cost control, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining profitability.
  • Thoroughly supporting customers and team members by meeting task requirements and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree. Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Construction, engineering or architectural technology
Required Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in estimating, project management or construction, working knowledge of estimating practices and procedures
Required Training/Certifications: Holds or working towards a CET or P.Eng designation
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge/experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Experience with SAP would be considered an asset
Travel Requirements: 25% away from the job’s regular worksite, 15% of overnight travel.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of construction drawings and documents would be considered an asset
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and is a self-starter
  • Sound knowledge of concrete pipe and drainage products
  • Able to understand and work with specifications and construction drawings
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Able to multi-task effectively and work in fast pace environment
  • High level of time management and prioritization skills
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
