Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Field HSE Adviser, you will be responsible for providing heat and safety support to the field operations teams. This support will aid and lead in the ongoing development of a front-line-based safety program. This individual will also lead the training, auditing, and coaching of facility leadership staff regarding the safety program's requirements and responsibilities.

This role is based out of Edmonton, Alberta

The Team

The team is composed of highly skilled professionals dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our field operations. Each member brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, particularly in health and safety management systems, regulatory processes, and frontline safety programs. The team excels in providing hands-on support, training and coaching to facilities, ensuring that safety protocols are not only understood but effectively implemented across all levels of operations.

Work Environment

The work environment for this role is dynamic and hands-on, based at a busy metals yard where safety and teamwork are at the core of daily operations. You'll be embedded in the field, working closely with operations teams to promote and uphold a strong safety culture in a fast paced, industrial setting.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support to the field in following Secures Life Saving Rules and HSEMS
  • Maintaining a high level of in person field support (75% of time at a minimum)
  • Supporting core systems including iTrak, work permitting/hazard assessment, job hazard assessment, visitor orientations, safety tickets, emergency response plans, facility inspections/communication, safety manual and COR audit
  • Ensures safety hazards and environmental risks are identified and controlled through established programs
  • Remain up to date on health & safety regulations and maintains relationships with regional regulatory personnel
  • Maintains effective relationships with regional stakeholders; provides guidance through coaching and positive reinforcement to operations management to ensure that all employees are trained to do their work in a safe and environmentally sound manner
  • Demonstrates an understanding of internal and external customer requirements and provides quality service in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Participates in incident investigations and provides guidance to operations when conducting root cause analysis and identifying quality corrective actions.
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of HSEMS components
  • Ensuring communication and consistency is maintained through active engagement in safety meetings, area calls, and general safety communications
  • Continually progress personal development, specifically maintaining up-to-date safety tickets and related training
  • Providing additional support as required

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-3 years direct experience in industry related operations
  • OHS Certificate, NCSO or post secondary education will be considered an asset
  • Practical knowledge and experience in training and coaching staff
  • A broad understanding of the HSE regulatory process and principles
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Strong ability to build working relationships and contacts within the organization as well as with external regulators, vendors, and contractors
  • High proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live and maintain a permanent residence within the area where the operational facilities are located
