Hardband Operator
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Hardband Operator in Nisku, Alberta will report to the Division Manager and is responsible to follow the company standard work procedure and safety policies while performing their day-to-day duties.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all the duties associated with the everyday operation of the tool joint hardband grinder unit and the hardband unit
- Unit maintenance, size adjustments, and settings of equipment
- Performs grinding and application of hardband area to meet customer requirements and Tuboscope SOP’s
- If applicable, supervises a crewmember’s performance of rolling pipe to and from the units and other related job duties as required
- Paperwork is required to be completed, the hardband operator will be responsible for completion and submission of the paperwork to the appropriate supervisor for review and processing
- Responsible for clean-up of the associated equipment following completion of a job
- Periodic equipment maintenance of the units and associated equipment
- The Hardband Operator may also perform other inspection/pipe service duties when the need arises
Qualification Requirements:
- High school or GED equivalent preferred
- Knowledge and experience in oilfield tubulars and pipe handling will be beneficial
- Knowledge of welding procedures
- On-the-job training in the operation of the equipment
- Driver’s abstract will be required
HSE Requirements:
- Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits)
- Standing, walking, squatting, lifting, and bending
- Training on proper usage of PPE if exposed to noise, dust and fumes.
- WHMIS training
- Lock-out/Tag-out training
- NOV in-house forklift training, if required
- NOV in-house Overhead/Jib crane training, if required
- Material Handling procedure training
- Hand & Power tool safety training
