Overview:
The Health & Safety Administrator will provide expertise and administrative support in the area of health and safety. This position will report directly to the British Columbia Pacific Northwest (BC PNW) Health & Safety Manager, and work with the BC PNW H&S team, to oversee the H&S Program including creating and maintaining the required databases, track and record safety related activities as recorded and reported by the respective operations, and assisting with WCB claim process. Ensure safety procedures, practices and training records are kept up to date and supervise and govern the H&S websites for the above mentioned purposes as you help support the BC PNW Team.
Responsibilities:
- Work with H&S Manager to ensure H&S related data are gathered on a timely basis and input in the relevant databases and websites.
- Maintain the tracking mechanisms for BC PNW leading and lagging H&S indicators.
- Assists in the development of documentation required for HSMS requirements including Safe Work Procedures, Practices and JHAs for manufacturing, maintenance and operational functions.
- Participate in the delivery of safety communications and programs to support the Lafarge Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).
- Work with the H&S team to identify system, program and training needs within the region and ensure they are in line with the requirements of the HSMS.
- Participate and assist in the development and sourcing of new safety products ensuring consistency and financial prudence.
- Develop tracking for safety related training modules and programs reflective of applicable legislative requirements as well as Lafarge safety standards, policies, procedures and practices.
- Assist in creating/updating the H&S safety manual, reference materials and presentations as required and directed by the H&S Manager.
- Assist the operations in their responsibilities with regards to management of safety, health and loss control issues.
- Respond to information requests from operations.
- Assist in entering local incidents into an internal database and reporting injury claims to WCB.
- Assist in the injury claims management process.
- Organize and maintain the digital filing system for H&S documents.
- Arrange pre-employment and post incident D&A testing when the operations require support.
- Develop and maintain a positive and proactive relationship with the operations as well as the BC PNW H&S team.
- Follow-up on HSMS, COR audit/inspection recommendations to ensure all items have been completed on time and assist with removing any barriers to completion.
- Assist in organizing and planning of H&S related events or meetings.
- Provide general office support.
- Other duties as required.

- Strong organizational skills, with ability to attend to detail, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Identification of development requirements and solutions related to Safety Management skills
Relationships with Other Jobs:
- Work under the direct supervision of BC PNW H&S Manager, but also take direction from the H&S Coordinators
- Work with BC PNW operations as appropriate
- Liaise with the local and regional operations as required
Dimensions:
- Key metrics are: BU health and safety related KPIs, fleet accident rates, health & safety improvement plan implementation, corrective action closure rate, training tracking.\
Qualification Profile:
- Grade 12 Diploma or Certificate in office and administration or safety administration
- Minimum 2 years in office admin support with strong background in Health and Safety
- Possession of Health and Safety certification/education is a definite asset
- Valid Class 5 License
- Ability to travel around BC PNW
Salary: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 per annum
