Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or 3rd-4th year apprentice to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our heavy equipment and machinery. Your expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and other construction machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components of heavy equipment.
- Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, repair manuals, and technical guidelines during repairs and maintenance activities.
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
- Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify equipment issues and provide guidance on preventive maintenance practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in heavy equipment technology and repair techniques.
Qualifications and qualities:
- Experience with SIS and ET.
- Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and equipment operators.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions.
Note: This job description outlines the primary responsibilities and qualifications for the role of Heavy Duty Mechanic with Journeyperson or Red Seal status. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, and flexibility in work hours may be required based on project demands.
