Your Opportunity at SECURE
As our Heavy Equipment Operator at our Richmond Transfer Station, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Your responsibilities will include operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance on equipment, and assisting with general labor tasks as needed.
This role is based out of Richmond, British Columbia.

Work Environment
The role of Heavy Equipment Operator is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, 40-hours.
A Day in The Life
- Safety Commitment: Attend safety meetings, daily tailgates, and follow SECURE’s Occupational Health and Safety Program, including completing FLHAs and Hazard IDs.
- Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders) and small equipment (e.g., forklifts, pumps) while performing pre-trip checks and preventative maintenance.
- Customer Interaction: Guide customers on proper dumping procedures and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- General Tasks: Perform general labor duties as required and assist in maintaining a clean, organized Transfer Station.
- Independent Work: Act independently with minimal supervision while adhering to company guidelines.
- Safety Protocols: Maintain a strong commitment to safety by consistently following protocols and ensuring a safe working environment.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience & Qualifications: Background in transfer stations, oilfield waste management, reclamation/remediation, civil or oilfield construction, with 2 years (or 3,500 hours) of heavy equipment operation experience (e.g., excavator, loader, skid steer).
- Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of regional Occupational Health and Safety standards; valid safety certifications (H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Ground Disturbance).
- Skills & Abilities: Strong work ethic, time management, and adaptability to challenging weather conditions; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical & Technical Capabilities: Physically fit for daily tasks involving lifting and heavy materials; intermediate computer skills for safety orientations and onboarding.
- Education & Values: Completion of Grade 12 and alignment with SECURE’s core values: Life, Accountability, Collaboration, and Excellence.
