Your Opportunity at SECURE
As our Manager, Health & Safety you will work to drive consistency through developing, facilitating, and implementing various safety systems, programs, policies, procedures, and work standards. This position works closely with key stakeholders throughout SECURE to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety Management System. The Manager will oversee a team of Health and Safety professionals to ensure workers throughout the organization understand the program, through coaching and mentoring.
This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta

The team environment is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, communication, and mutual support. Health and Safety professionals work closely with stakeholders, offering subject matter expertise and guidance. The team values open communication, working together to address challenges, implement safety initiatives, and achieve compliance across the organization. There is also a strong focus on coaching and developing skills within the team.

The work environment at SECURE is dynamic and focused on safety, collaboration, and compliance. Employees work across various divisions and business units, adhering to established safety programs, policies, and procedures. The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure to ensure compliance with health and safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
This is a full-time permanent position, based in an office setting.
A Day in The Life
- Oversee a team of H&S professionals to administer the H&S program.
- Provide subject matter expertise on the application and interpretation of SECURE safety programs including HSEMS, safety systems, policies, programs, procedures, and work standards.
- Support, plan, coordinate and manage Health & Safety initiatives.
- Develop, monitor, and communicate SECURE health and safety management system, policies and procedures
- Develop and communicate educational resources and technical aids for safety programs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Lead and/or participate in audits (internal/external) across the organization. Identify risks and opportunities and provide solutions to close identified gaps.
- Provide guidance to operational level to ensure compliance with HSEMS and regulatory requirements.
- Develop effective communication strategies related to H&S programs and systems.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of H&S programs and systems.
- Lead and manage team to support Contractor Management program, client portals and variance requests.
- Provide lead support, planning, coordination, and implementation for Incident Management System project.
- Develop, monitor, and communicate SECURE industrial hygiene program.
- Collaborate and develop educational resources such as training programs and ensure effective rollout across organization.
- Assist with training of accountable leadership.
- Provide support on severe and serious potential incident investigations as required.
- Lead all H&S corporate audit programs (both internal and external) including COR.
- Monitor and prepare reporting on H&S statistical data, performance metrics, KPIs, targets.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years direct experience in industry related operations.
- Post secondary education or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation would be considered an asset.
- Safety Management System including Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Management and major investigation experience and background.
- A good understanding of the HSE regulatory process and principles.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work well under pressure.
- Strong ability to build working relationships and contacts within the organization as well as with external regulators, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to analyze health and safety statistical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
