Precision Drilling has an onsite opening for an HSE Superintendent (Roaming-Field based), eager to roll up their sleeves for fresh challenges and development that could pave the way for future career growth as our business continues to innovate and grow. This position will work out of our Drilling Support Center (DSC) located in Nisku, Alberta,

Summary

Responsible for implementation of HSE management system (MS), processes, policies, and tools; Drives ownership, responsibility, and accountability for HSE; Communicates effectively to drive consistent implementation and compliance to the HSE MS; champions HSE to continuously drive HSE Performance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Provide HSE leadership, support, coaching, and training at all levels in the field.
  • Responsible for implementing HSE objectives and performance measures during all drilling operational activities.
  • Coaches, trains, supports, demonstrates, and leads Key Beliefs, Life-Saving Actions, HSE MS policies, procedures, processes, and tools.
  • Continuous assessment and communication of HSE data and KPIs to monitor leading and lagging indicators.
  • Proficient in Regulatory requirements, PD HSE MS policies, and industry best practices ensuring compliance.
  • Ensures hazard identification and controls (Hazard Assessments) are completed and controls, including Life-Saving Actions, are in place for all tasks.
  • Observe the application of HSE MS during rig activities.
  • Participate in on-site HSE activities, including, but not limited to, risk assessments (CTA/SOV/Step Back, etc.), safety meetings, hazard hunts, inspections, and HSE process/tool use. 
  • Champion Dropped Object Prevention and Overhead Equipment Securement; Train, audit, and inspect.  
  • Effectively communicate company initiatives, messaging, and objectives.
  • Support post-incident management, including incident report preparation, incident investigation, and liaison with HSE/Ops management. 
  • Conduct HSE Assessments to evaluate HSE performance, identify successes/challenges, identify necessary actions, and monitor actions for completion.
  • Conduct HSE/Field Inspections and monitor actions for completion.
  • Verify job specific training of field employees is current.
  • Acting as a liaison between the field and applicable stakeholders, consistently communicating findings.
  • Report daily to HSE Manager
  • Communicate all visits to rig-assigned HSE/Field Superintendents (before/after) to allow for collaboration of visit planning, findings, and continued support.  
  • Field-based (20 on / 10 off) work schedule rotation; 12 hr. days (driving time included).
  • Use of corporate card (Visa) within corporate card policy, including maintaining a record of expenses and completing monthly expense reports for approval.
  • Use of company truck (pooled), including requirements for Element fuel card use (as per fuel credit card agreement). Vehicle must be kept clean.

Knowledge of Regulatory requirements

HSE credentials and/or certifications preferred

Experience

2+ years of Drilling Rig experience is required, or must have motorhand experience with a proven excellent safety record 

Knowledge of HSE Management Systems

Skill in the application of HSE systems, processes, procedures, and tools related to the drilling industry

Must have valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle, including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement
