Purpose:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Supervisor in maintaining safe, effective and efficient operation of the plant warehouses.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Ensures high standards of safety, housekeeping and organization.
  • Ensures Holcim environmental policies are followed in area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with Supervisor to coordinate warehouse activities and collaborates with Maintenance on order fulfillment.
  • Procure materials and supplies as directed following established Holcim policy and procedure.
  • Entering work notifications to support the warehouse needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate resolution of procurement and inventory discrepancies.
  • Work with approved vendors to ensure quality service and deliverables are maintained.
  • Assists in control and monitoring of inventory for accuracy thru cycle counting.
  • Ensure orderly and proper storage and identification of parts and supplies.
  • Assist in parts staging/kitting as required for outages/projects/jobs.
  • Utilize the MRP to ensure parts ordered in timely fashion.  
  • Manage VMI/consumables area.
  • Assist Warehouse Supervisor in coordinating with Area Planners/Maintenance Supervisors to ensure reliability and accountability of parts.
  • Support the plant with lead times on parts as well as emergency/expedite orders.
  • Work with Maintenance on conversion of direct charge to material numbers.
  • Serve as back-up to Supervisor when required in order to maintain consistent service to plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: High School diploma/GED, post-secondary school an asset
  • 2-3 years experience in a warehouse or industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities; coaching, organizational and problem solving skills. Previous leadership experience an asset.
  • Experience with SAP Materials Management (MM) purchasing and inventory control functionality or other e- based business management systems.
  • Position is dynamic and offers opportunity to exercise/develop problem solving, continuous improvement and leadership skills. Inventory Control Specialist will work on day shift but must be flexible to work shifts during major plant outages or as necessary to support operations.
  • Ideal candidates would have a mechanical aptitude, ability to work and excel in a team based environment and have demonstrated knowledge of warehousing techniques.
