Summary

Reporting to the Equipment & Maintenance Foreman, the Journeyman Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling, and repairing of oilfield rig equipment, machinery, and mechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Install, align, fit, dismantle, and move rig equipment, such as pumps, blocks, crowns, draw works, etc.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, loaders, and forklifts to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools
  • Ability to mentor and coach apprentices throughout daily activities and tasks
  • Keep up to date with all Precision Drilling core values, key beliefs, and safety culture
  • Participating in after-hours and weekend on-call and overtime as required
  • Various other duties as required

Knowledge & Skills

Must have the ability to read and assemble equipment from prints and drawings

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Must have the ability to conduct precision measurement and inspection of mechanical components

Must be willing to work in safety conscious environment

Must be motivated and have good communication skills

Candidate must have a positive attitude with the ability to work well with others and on their own

Must be able to operate hydraulic pulling equipment

Must be able to operate oxy-acetylene and oxy-propane cutting and heating equipment

Must pass a pre-employment drug and fitness test

Must be comfortable with operating a ¾ ton service truck

Must possess own standard hand tools; specialty equipment will be supplied as required

Must have a valid Vehicle Operation License (abstract required)

Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

A post-secondary graduate of an approved certified Millwright or Industrial Mechanic program

Must be a registered Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright

Experience

2+ years’ experience working with or on drilling rig equipment is considered an asset
