What You Will Do:

  • Organize needed materials for the task
  • Perform mechanical repairs and rebuilds, including but not limited to gearboxes, belt and mechanical driven conveyor systems, diaphragm pumping systems, pneumatics components and tools, and properly align to tolerance bearings, gears, shafts and couplings
  • Install new and used machinery and equipment
  • Move existing equipment within the building
  • Complete welding, basic electrical, plumbing and fabricating as per building requirements
  • Contact with outside contractors
  • Complete associated paperwork, including dispatch requests, PM’s, etc…
  • Supervision of Apprentice Millwrights may be required
  • Prioritization of dispatch requests
  • Perform rigging and operation of cranes and forklifts
  • Training of employees
  • Delegation of tasks
  • Follow Lean manufacturing guidelines
  • Work in a safe manner, follow all rules, regulations and legislation
  • Manage and maintain a clean and organized work environment

Position Details:

  • Permanent
  • Full-time
  • Rotating shift between day and afternoon shift (night shift may be required dependent on business conditions)
  • Weekend shift may be required dependent on business conditions

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Able to read blueprints
  • Ability to supervise and multi-task
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work between two South Edmonton facilities, if required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Reliable

Physical Demands

  • Pre-employment testing including drug & alcohol, vision, auditory, background check and physical demands assessment required upon hire
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours/day

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing Principles and Total Productive Maintenance
  • Knowledge in a variety of trades is extremely beneficial
  • Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and pneumatics experience
  • Knowledge and experience in welding (OAW, GMAW, MIG, SMAW)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft office, word, and access)

Certifications:  

  • Ticket for Journeyman Millwright
  • Dual ticketed tradesman would be considered an asset
