Your Opportunity at SECURE Energy

As our Marketing Accountant, you will assist in all areas of crude oil and condensate marketing accounting at SECURE’s facilities. This role will include identifying and reporting crude oil and condensate marketing-related values and costs associated with SECURE facilities.

This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta

Work Environment

This position is a full-time position based in an office environment.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and manage all monthly Crude Oil Marketing-related accounting worksheets and internal reports for the proper accrual and booking of monthly Crude Oil Marketing profits and costs
  • Work closely with Production Accounting and Finance personnel to ensure the smooth flow of information and proper tracking of volumes, qualities and revenues associated with Crude Oil marketing at each facility
  • Timely and accurate creation and distribution of invoices relating to the monthly cheque exchange process
  • Manage relationships with existing counterparties
  • Prepare and provide input into weekly and monthly management reports on expected profits/costs relating to Crude Oil Marketing
  • Ensure all transactions are accomplished in accordance with internal Trading, Credit and Risk policies
  • Foster positive working relationships with all internal customers, including field and Calgary area personnel
  • Analyze monthly Accrual and Actual models for completeness and accuracy and prepare detailed Accrual to Actuals Variance Analysis summary

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have:

  • An undergraduate degree and 3-5 years of recent direct experience within crude oil marketing
  • An established network within the energy marketing industry
  • Professional accounting designation complete or in-progress is preferred
  • Knowledge of the various Canadian crude oil pipelines, truck terminals, crude oil types, and pricing components necessary for invoicing and payment of Crude Oil Marketing volumes
  • Strong customer contact skills with proven professionalism
  • The ability to ensure that individual initiatives are routinely taken to develop new procedures and exceptional forward ideas and insight into the Crude Oil Marketing accounting analysis
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines are essential
  • The ability to manage various deadlines and deliverables
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience navigating and preparing crude oil pricing invoices and payment statements for Crude Oil Marketing related business.
  • Experience with Egistix or related Crude Oil Marketing systems would be an asset
  • The ability to demonstrate success in assuming a high degree of accountability for individual initiatives, common sense solutions, and professional decisions
  • A positive, self-motivated and energetic team player attitude with a willingness to work independently in a fast- paced and dynamic environment while sharing experiences and knowledge with others
  • The established ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a win-win focus
