ABOUT THE ROLE

Lafarge Canada is commissioning a new facility near Lake Wabamun that will reclaim landfilled ash and repurpose it for concrete manufacturing. The Sundance Reclamation Facility will be the first of its kind to use PABS technology from Ash-TEK to beneficiate landfilled materials, playing a crucial role in Lafarge’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Ticketed Millwright to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the facility.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Act as a safety leader by demonstrating strong personal safety behavior, reinforcing good safety practices, and addressing safety concerns.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve problems efficiently.

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to carry out installation, maintenance, and repairs effectively.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend machinery lifespan.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and parts inventory, using CMMS or other tools.

Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot complex problems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Train, mentor, and sign off required competencies and hours for millwright apprentices at the facility.

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Post secondary education
Additional Education Preferred: Electrical aptitude and proficiency in multiple welding processes are assets.
Field of Study Preferred: Millwright, Mechanical Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
Required Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a maintenance role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Required Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, combustion systems, and pneumatics. Basic understanding of automation strategies.

Additional Requirements:

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Strict adherence to safety protocols with a strong understanding of occupational health and safety standards.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on industrial mechanical components, including motors, belt conveyors, augers, compressors, rotary dryers & calciners, centrifugal fans, blowers, valves, pipes, and generators.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve problems efficiently.

Meticulous attention to detail in inspections, repairs, and maintenance procedures.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing demands.

Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and standing for extended periods.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
