
Position: Drilling Wellsite Supervisor
Job Summary:
l The Drilling Wellsite Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all drilling operations on-site to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution in accordance with the drilling program and company standards.
l Key responsibilities include supervising rig activities, coordinating with drilling contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, and managing daily reporting.
Responsibility:
l Perform daily reporting including, but not limited to HSE, productivity parameters, cost and regulatory compliance.
l Ensure accurate tracking of project costs and well information in Petro sight.
l Review and sign field tickets plus general responsibilities of drilling supervisor.
l Record all required drilling data into Petro sight before 06:00am.
l Upload reports, logs, tallies, job reports from vendor into One Drive.
l Ensure Tour Sheets are filled out completely and accurately.
l Reviewing and approving contractor field tickets.
l Perform contractor inspections and/or audits to ensure compliance to COSL HSE Requirements for Contractors
l Maintain open and clear communication with Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, Field Superintendents, cross shifts and support staff as required.
l Collaborate with and support other stakeholders as required (i.e., Completions, Operations, Maintenance).
l Ensure conformance to established onboarding processes.
l Issue and/or receive safe work permits, manage TOA’s, maintain COSL site sign in sheet and on-site head count.
l Directly supervising, witnessing and/or verifying critical tasks as per the Supervisors Critical Task List.
l Participate and/or lead hazard identification and control.
l Lead safety meetings, review and sign sub-contractor JSA/FLHA’s and ensure all attendees have signed the JSA/FLHA.
l Participating in contractor safety meetings as required.
l Perform, supervise, provide guidance and/or direct contractors regarding a variety of work outlined in the Drilling Program.
l Personally conduct Job Observations, reviews of critical tasks with crews using procedure manuals, participate in and encourage Hazard ID’s and ensure meaningful FLRA’s are recorded.
l Ensure all hazards are communicated to contractors on site.
l Manage and distribute site EAP.
l Ensure all equipment and processes are compliant with Directive 36.
l Ensure well control and blowout prevention measures meet regulations and operators’ requirements.
l Monitor work to ensure all the Operator’s and regulatory requirements are met.
l Monitor PPE use; hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots (with anti-slip), gloves, flame resistant coveralls and dust masks.
l Ensure all necessary atmospheric testing is conducted and that individuals conducting the tests are competent.
l Assume a lead role in the identification, communication, and execution of imminent danger situations.
l Support and participate in hazard identification, near miss, and job observation programs.
l Conduct formal documented rig inspections (including DROPS) on all equipment under your supervision.
l Monitor hazardous substances use, transportation, storage, and disposal.
l Identify and make recommendations as to identify scope creep in advance (deviation from the sequence that may impact the cost estimate) and communicate with direct report in a timely fashion.
Experience & Skills:
l Experience in SAGD or Thermal Drilling operations is required, additional experience in HPHT is preferred
l High degree of initiative and independent judgment
l Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy
l Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines
l Good computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, drilling data information systems
l Ability to work well and communicate effectively within a multi-functional, integrated team
l Strong oral and written communication skills
l Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and team focused skills
l Ability to deliver desired results safely, on time, and on budget, while maintaining or enhancing relationships
