Summary:
The Lafarge Exshaw Cement Plant is a world-class facility nestled in the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains within driving distance to Canmore, Calgary and Cochrane.
Throughout the student's coop term, they will be responsible to support the preventative maintenance group at Exshaw to achieve high equipment availability and decrease unplanned stoppages. This support will be focused in the areas of condition monitoring of equipment (vibration, oil analysis, walk by inspections and stopped inspections), lubrication and preventive maintenance scheduling.
This position is a 40 hour a week job based out of the Exshaw cement plant, the largest cement plant in Canada, and one that intends to shift the sourcing of 80% of its energy needs to low-carbon fuels within the next decade. Target start is January 2025.
Job Responsibilities:
- Setup and assist with condition monitoring of plant equipment
- Identify and implement improvement plans within the preventive maintenance group at the Exshaw cement plant
- Analyze oil and vibration data to generate corrective work orders for plant equipment
- Monitor operation and maintenance key performance indicators (KPI's)
- Participate in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process following a equipment failures
Required Skills:
- Familiar with industrial safety requirements best practices (Energy isolation, confined space, working at heights)
- Familiar with industrial manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance (belt conveyors, bucket elevators, crushers, fans, pumps and dust collectors)
- Familiar with Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Quick learner
- Own transportation/access to a vehicle to travel to/from work is required.
Compensation: $25.00 per hour
