ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge Construction is looking for a Seasonal Skidsteer Operator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. The Skidsteer Operator will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of skid steer machinery, ensuring smooth operations of the plant. This role involves physical labor and will require the ability to work in a team environment while maintaining safety, operational standards, and quality control on-site. The successful candidate will assist with daily operations and perform equipment maintenance under the direction of the plant foreman or lead hand.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Perform routine maintenance on the skid steer, including cleaning, greasing, refueling, oil changes, and maintaining fluid levels.

Operate a front-end wheel loader and assist with plant operations.

Assist with various job operations while ensuring the safety of company personnel, the community, and the environment.

Ensure the completion of the daily equipment checklist and ensure proper weights are monitored.

Monitor material production and ensure it remains within specifications.

Ensure a consistent feed to maintain product quality.

Contribute to the creation of a positive team atmosphere and foster a culture of teamwork.

Continuously seek out and implement Best Practices for operational efficiency.

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience operating a skid steer
Required Training/Certifications: Heavy Equipment Certifications
Required Technical Skills: Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate and maintain skid steer machinery.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel between job sites within the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas

Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas.

Ability to read survey markings.

Strong judgment, the ability to work safely, and effective communication skills within a team environment.

This role is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Successful completion of a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing, and a criminal record check may be required.

Assist the plant operator with daily operations and plant upkeep.

Operate and maintain the skid steer, ensuring proper care, cleanliness, and functioning.

Perform necessary repairs and maintenance on equipment as directed by the plant foreman or lead hand.

Monitor production and material handling, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Maintain service records for the equipment, keeping accurate and thorough logs of maintenance performed.

Ensure compliance with environmental safety practices, including spill containment and reporting.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the Squalitative and quantitative fit tests.
