We are seeking a Thermal Design Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in advancing thermal design excellence for critical industrial applications.

This is a senior role that blends deep technical expertise with leadership, ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on problem-solving, mentoring, and driving innovation in heat transfer design.

What You’ll Do

As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will:

  • Lead thermal and mechanical design of air coolers, shell & tube heat exchangers, waste heat boilers, and sulfur condensers.
  • Perform thermal and vibration analyses, ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.
  • Review, check, and approve engineering work—providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Support proposals by preparing engineering design packages, calculations, and technical input during bid stages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development) to align solutions with project and client goals.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Stamp/sign deliverables as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, leveraging digital tools, and embedding energy efficiency and sustainability in design.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10–15 years’ experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Proficiency with HTRI software and proven expertise in thermal analysis & vibration.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessel design codes (ASME, API, ABSA).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Assets

  • Active P.Eng. designation.
  • Structural engineering experience.
